Do mormons really have magic underwear? Also, were you born a mormon or did you convert?
What you are referring to is known as the garment. Basically, the best way I've heard it explained is this:
A minister in almost any other Christian faith wears his vestments when performing his duties. However, at the local level the LDS church doesn't have a professional clergy. They're all volunteers. The garment is similar to the vestments a priest would wear, but it can be worn under normal clothes. It's also a reminder of certain covenants made to God and a direct protector against sexual sins.
And I am not a convert, but around 1/4 of my family is either inactive or not a Mormon.

I'm not sure what you're referring to by sect. Do you mean something FLDS vs. LDS?
And, since the name is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints, yes I do think that we are Christians.

Upon the death of Joseph Smith, Jr. the Mormon church broke into multiple different sects, each claiming to be the legitimate continuation of Smith's church.
The largest is the mainstream church of LDS, based out of Utah, which was led by Brigham Young. Second largest is the reorganized church of LDS, based out of Missouri, led by Joseph Smith III. There are also a handful of Restorationist sects that followed senior members of the church upon Joseph Smith, Jr.'s death.
The mainstream, Utah based church of LDS is larger than all the rest combined, but I dearly want to talk to someone in a breakaway sect some time.
As a self-proclaimed Christian, how do you reconcile some of the incongruities and contradictions between the New Testament and the Book of Mormon? What is your opinion on non Mormon Christians?

Inconsistencies in the Bible are the result of the fact that the Bible was translated by academics and scholars, not by prophets and seers. This is why there are several passages in the Bible that are in the KJV version's footnotes retranslated, either academically or by Joseph Smith. After that, though, I have never found a scripture in the Bible that contradicts a verse in the BoM or D&C.
I'm not sure what you mean by opinion about other Christians. I think most of them have good motives: that many of them are earnest seekers of the truth, same as any religion. They just haven't quite found it yet. I also have met some other Christians that are jerks, same as some Mormons I've met.
Edit: I agree with you, I'd love to talk to a minority Mormon faith and see what the doctrine differences are.
