You don't really need to know your other players to form some kind of formation. If the camper is really camping, you will have time to grab all of your guys and make a plan. Their confidence in you will boost when they understand that you are going to take most of the hits and burden most of the risk for them. You are the bait, so they are back far enough that they won't be effected by any of what the camper dishes out. It will inform your team of the location of the camper and put them all in position to take him out at the same time.

I use less paint in speedball than woods. If you can't find people that will play with you in woods because they are intimidated, you're sure to find plenty of people willing to play on speedball.

In my experience at my particular field they split the open gamers (rec ball) into three group. Beginner, intermediate, and advance. On days when they dont have enough advanced players we go to an intermediate group and focus on fundamentals. We one ball and tend to sit back to let the less experienced players have fun.
