Glad to see there is some discussion on this. Glad to see there are some paintballers that know their history. In the past when paintball has encountered barriers it is because those that are not educated on guns fear anything foreign to them. Coming out of the woods helped but the fact of the matter is we play a gun sport. Our fate no matter how many bright colors we wear or how much we try to call our gun a marker will not matter. Plus can you imagine what would happen to the industry if milsim did go away. Manufacturers put so much money into it not just because it's cool. It's because there is money to be made there. If businesses aren't making money they go out of business and that is bad for paintball as a whole. If you like the sport of paintball please encourage your friends and family to join us at our state capitol. If you just don't care, thats ok too. This is America we have the freedom of choice, I choose to fight for what I believe is my right, and for a sport that I have played and loved since 1993.

Hello patriots, it's Eric from "Gun Control = More Crime" again. "Guns Across America" is going to take place Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 at "high noon." This is going to be a peaceful picketing protest against ANY, AND ALL future gun legislation. This is our chance to reach out to our elected officials, and tell them NO NEW GUN LAWS! "Guns Across America" is being tailored to happen in every states capital city**, at their capital building. The theory behind doing this event on a Saturday, is most conservative gun owners work a typical Monday through Friday job. I'm hoping for a massive response by doing this on a weekend.

Mission Statement:
Guns Across America Events are committed to supporting the Right to Keep and Bear Arms as outlined in the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution. Our goal is to inform and educate the public about their Constitutional Rights . Our objective is to ensure that law abiding citizens retain those rights through peaceful and legal means.

This is going to be a great success with your help. All you need to do is show up, and make your voice heard. If you're state has legalized open carry / concealed carry, and you're legal to do so, I encourage it. However, please make sure we're all in compliance with state laws, as this event will be a reflection on all gun owners across America. All details and updates will occur on the page, "Gun Control = More Crime." I look forward to making this a huge success, so please share this update.

At Gun Control = More Crime, we are very well aware of the laws. We do not recommend anybody bring any long guns, rifles, shotguns, etc. to the "Guns Across America" events. If legal in your state, WE ARE NOT FORBIDDING IT, but we feel that it's unnecessary, and playing into the anti gun propaganda. We further advise all attending: you, and only you, are responsible for knowing any and all state and/or federal laws pertaining to the carriage of a firearm. Further, Guns Across America events, Gun Control = More Crime, Eric Reed, or any individuals involved with the Guns Across America event, are not liable for any individuals criminal actions that may, or may not occur, either intentionally or unintentionally.

**Some states are not gathering at their Capital City. Please check your States Facebook page/event page or ask your State Organizer for the proper location.

Based on Section 921(a)(3), air guns, because they use compressed air and not an explosive to expel a projectile, do not constitute firearms under Federal law — unless they are manufactured with the frames or receivers of an actual firearm. Accordingly, the domestic sale and possession of air guns is normally unregulated under the Federal firearms laws enforced by ATF.

So, how about we just stop freaking out about this a little bit, huh?

Nail guns will be banned before paintball markers will. Once they start trying to get one of one electo-pneumatic platform, plenty others come into play.

I heard there was an d paintball gun that used propane as a fuel. Under that law, would it be considered a firearm?

Depending on the definition of the law, paintball guns can be considered a small arm.

Yes, for example the fantasy definition versus the real definition

Different areas define their laws differently. There are places that have included these in small arms bans. Be ignorant about it if you like. It's the way it is.

I heard the same thing from liberals about obama "not wanting to ban guns". And then look what happened.

States can make their own regulations. So can counties and municipalities. Tomorrow, if you local governing body so decides, paintball guns/markers can be deemed illegal. Why? Because it's too dangerous.

Um, yes? But, again, paintball guns =/= firearms. So why are we talking about 2nd amendment rights like they have much of anything to do with paintball guns? If there are federal firearms bans, they will not touch paintball guns. Your local government would need to go after them specifically. When that happens, then, by all means, make a freak out thread.

May want to read your states laws. They can change it to anything that shoots a projectile. Hence why they've made laws against bows, slings, and other assorted goods.

Don't believe me? Already trying to do it in CT: http://nraila.org/media/10832557/wes...sed_1_2_13.pdf

A "weapon" would be defined as "implements that impel with force a projectile of any kind"

Pretty much defines a paintball gun right there

Suburbs of Chicago: http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2...ed-lake-forest

Another: http://www.ksla.com/Global/story.asp...1&nav=0RY5b2M0
"these paintballs are weapons, this paintball fires up to 300 feet per second. You could get your eyes shot out, it could break the skin, it's very dangerous."

You're missing the point. There is no constitutional right to paintball. So if a locality wants to ban it, it is perfectly fine for it to do so. This has zero relationship to the 2nd Amendment, Constitution, or firearms legislation on the federal level.

Unless of course we get paintball guns deemed firearms on a federal level, which we absolutely do NOT want. Paintball is paintball, restrictive laws can be fought by the community but this is NOT part of the ideological battle over firearms.

This is a red herring.

There's no constitutional right for obama to order americans to be killed without them going to trial, yet that didn't stop him did it? The constitution didn't matter in that regard, but when we're talking about paintball it does matter? What you do is pick and choose when the constitution applies just to suit your agendas.

I seem to recall New Jersey having banned paintball a long, long time ago. Obviously that law has since been repealed or changed. But does anyone else remember this? I'm talking sometime in the late 80's, maybe early 90's.

I believe it was in the early 90's. I remember reading stories in APG about the legal fights out there and the many laws they used to keep paintball fields from opening. I hope we never see that again.

I doubt we will. Paintball has a long history of solid statistical evidence backing up its relative safety compared to pretty much any other sport. The real danger is the non-paintball players that go to their local big box retailer and buy markers specifically to be idiots and vandalize stuff. Those guys drive me crazy and are the real threat to paintball.
