This week I have been working on a new pump..

I make the Scout but I wanted to get rid of the back block. So I came up with this.

I have a few raw bodys in the shop so I started with that.



Now the one thing that bugged me was dual pump rods that just work to do the same thing.
So I thought let use each rod to do different things.
One rod to work the bolt and the other rod to work the hammer.

The bolt.


The Hammer.


The body look like this.


Add the air source


Got to make a pump handle for it .


Now got to trial fit everything to make sure it works right.




What do you think ??

Man, I love the scouts! That thing looks awesome...my only concern would be having the hammer open on the side. Knowing me I would get shot there.

The raw body's I got from a friend who knows a guy who knows a guy type of thing.

I can time the hammer and the bolt individually.

Is that really something normal guns can't do?

On a fullbody I suppose the cocking rod does the same thing, on a halfblock there is a difference, but presumably machining the hammer slot and pin properly takes care of timing permanently, no?

Also correct me if I'm wrong but don't dual rods not do the same thing as one another? Each rod pushes the sled back from a different side, which offsets and eliminates sideloading/twist, right? As an assembly dual rods are more stable and a more linear application of force, no?

Not that design exercises aren't cool.

Not individually.

I believe CCM stable the pump twist with out using dual pump rod's.
So there are other ways to stable the pump twist then using dual pump rod's.
To me the rod are still doing the same thing. pushing the back block or the sled back & forth. Thats all.
Weather it's one pump rod on one side or the other or both sides.

Now I'm not trying to start a argument. If you like it fine, if not fine.
Just wanted to show it off, that's all.

Me neither (argument). Just like to delve into the thinking behind various modifications. Certainly different from anything else. Kind of reminds me a bit of the SHO sniper in terms of having the second arm do something different.
