Generally it's not a good idea to say, "don't think I'm crazy" or "I'm not crazy," because once you mention that word, she's pretty much going to think you are. You want to avoid using words like crazy, weird, insane, etc., even if you are saying you aren't that, because she'll just think you are. It's also a confidence issue as well. You don't sound very confident at all in that message. "I think I talked to you on the elevator a few times." Really? First of all, you think, or do you know? And second of all, how the hell is she suppossed to answer that message? "Yeah I talked to you to." ****, she's better of saying nothing because there really isn't anything to say to that.

Here's what you should have done, if you are going to resort to facebook/social media sites: Send her a friend request and wait for her to accept it. Then, you send a message saying, "Hey, I've talked to you a few times on the elevator in our building, and you seem like a cool person. We should hang out sometime."

I've random added people I went to high school with, and haven't seen in like 5-6 years. They never seemed creeped out by that.
