Living legends...Footwear!

As a LL first timer I was wondering what kind of terrain we will be on and what kind of footwear everyone recommends:

1. cleats
2. boots
3. sneakers (running or B-Ball)

See you in May!

Cleats work great on everything except the paved streets of Bedlam.

Last year I wore my Saucony Outlaws. They're lightweight, have a fairly aggressive tread and have plenty of ankle support.
I also go trail running frequently and the extra ankle support has saved me on quite a few fast descents.
The only downside is that they are on the minimalist side, so standing all day won't be as comfortable as a shoe with a thicker sole (although I haven't really noticed).
Also, the color choices aren't great but that doesn't really matter to me.

I've also thought about wearing my all time favorite boots.
The Lowa Zephyr's. Awesome boot.
I mainly use them for backpacking and general outdoor use but they definitely thrive in a tactical/scenario-paintball setting.

Inov-8 shoes are also a good brand, if they fit you; as they seem to run very narrow.

Also, at LL5 I definitely saw a decent number of people wearing cleats go down hard on the slippery surfaces in Bedlam.
I'd rather sacrifice a little traction than have to avoid particular areas.

Running shoes with some ankle wrap or cleats. the only time that you would need boots is IF it rains because anyone whos been to cpx after it has rained even for a little bit knows that it will just be full of mud in the woodsball fields and have big puddles on the rest of the other fields

I've always worn my Exalt paintball cleats for scenarios for years. I think this might be the year I buy some light hiking boots.

I will agree with that!! Came around a corner by the mail box last time to shoot a couple of guys and realized there were a dozen behind them, trying to change directions put me flat on my backside! Do they coat that place with vasiline before the event? So good set of sneakers.

Yeah, I fell hard in Bedlam too during the pump game in 2011. Someone else watched me do it and them promptly did exactly the same thing.

I'll wear boots for the woods play. Bad ankles = wanting the best ankle support I can bring. I'll probably also have a set of sneaker-type shoes for city play.

For the budget ballers out there you can get a nice pair of light hiking boots at a sports store! However, good athletic shoes like a cross trainer should be ok.

Cleats suck if you want to play in bedlam. The paint can get thick and slick. If you want to see how bad, just watch a starting video of final battle from that side and you will see players sliding and falling.

I don't have any experience with the HK cleats but to me they look like a skate shoe with added tread.

Most folks I know either wear football or soccer cleats. Both work well but you should definitely consider the differences.

Football cleats are designed to help the athlete dig in and resist force against his movement forward.
They have cleats that are molded mainly horizontally across the shoe to give more front driven support, and a center toe cleat that allows for improved traction during quick starts.
Football cleats also come in low-cut, mid-cut and high tops.

Soccer cleats do not have a toe cleat. Unlike football cleats, soccer cleats are designed to keep the feet and center of gravity as close to the ground as possible.
Soccer cleats are strictly made in the low-cut style because soccer requires a great deal of speed and agility.
For the same reasons, they're also lighter than football cleats.

Not that I've seen. It sure doesn't take long for the city to be as slick as... well, it's slick.
