Any adroid experts? Getting a prepaid Galaxy Ace Q for xmas
I'm a complete android noobie, just fooled around on my ppl's androids here and there.
So my muther is buying me a prepaid Samsung Galaxy Ace Q android for xmas, from what I read it's meh, a standard entry level android with slide out KB.
For a number of reasons, I want do to prepaid through Telus (Canada) The plan I'm looking is basically 100 megs data a month (lol), unlimited text, and free calls at certain hours for $40 a month. Now seeing as I don't want to get screwed over, I think the obvious first step would to be to set updates to WIFI only, and got a data usage monitoring app. Anything else?
Yes, I know I will be using wifi either at my place or my parents, or other wifi hot spots practically every time I want to browse the web etc.

I'm not sure about this whole "Android" thing. I think Blackberrys will crush it.

Just ask us we dont bite I would recommend getting tasker right away if its an option. Also if your on ICS or above you can cap data usage. Besides that just turn off your data at all times.

My ma has a galaxy ace, a non slider. **** runs an old version of andriod, froyo or gingerbread. For her its perfect because it can text, facebook and freecell. If you are not a 45 year old woman, you might want to get a better phone.

i have 200mb on my plan. dont think i could keep it under 100, thats pretty tight even if you just want to check facebook a couple times a day and look a few pictures. only reason im able to stay under 200mb is im not on it while at work and have wifi at home.

Mah, keep mobile data off and WiFi on and you're set. It saves battery and stops you from being on social media instead of talking to real people around you
...but 100mb sucks, lol

SMH, the phone probably uses 100MB every time it's turned on.
OP, you need a data plan that's fitting of a first-world country.

id say the galaxy ace is a old android it is very basic,if you use your phone lots id say get a galaxy infuse or s2 or note or even s3 there pretty cheap now can buy a s2 used for 200 or less,i personally use a galaxy note i love its big screen. but ya 100mb is nothing i have 1gig and i never go over but when i can use wifi i do!. id stay away from iphones there way behind android unless you wanna have a conversation with your phone, black berrys are old and behind everything unless its strictly for work. i think pay as you go is a little expensive my plane is 65 i get 10 numbers i can call free anywhere in Canada,200 talk mins, free text, free evenings n weekends starting at 6,1 gig of data, caller id,and call waiting and free rogers tv

teehee, had it activated since Dec 28th and only used 5 megs of data... Just use wifi at my place or my parents, and only use data if I really need it when I'm out where there's no wifi... most restaurants and coffee shops have wifi
