Custom Marker Case
Now, Ill start by saying im not new to the game, but im not fully seasoned. I was handed down a bunch of gear from my older cousin who went into the Navy, so he gave me a big Nike bag and when i opened it, it was in my eyes, gold. It was my first sight at my own paintball stuff. Tippmann 98, Vests,Pods,Pack holders,Tank...Everything he bought was now mine. That was a few years ago, and recently i got back into the game.
Monday i bought myself the Proto Rail, it was the perfect price for my budget, and it was purchased with my own money, that i earn from a 9-5 job. Im paranoid im going to leave it in my dufflebag and open it up one day, to see it busted...So i came to think, i need a case for this to put in my bag.
I brought up the idea to my dad about having a Father-Son weekend project of going to some stores, and making a case for it..One where there are no limits to what it holds, how big it is, storage space. I have tons of ideas for this weekend project, like getting one of those hard plastic cases that holds Screwdrivers and screws, and customize that, or build one out of wood..Anything.
My Question to you all, any one have any ideas for what i should do? Any compartment i should make in the case? Right now for what i want in the case would be-
Place to hold the marker
Barrel
Barrel sock
Allen keys
Lube
Extra O-Rings
Manual, and other documents
Anything else to include? im already thinking of putting some kind of cushion to keep the stuff from getting scratched, and straps to hold them in place.
Thanks everyone, hopefully this works out with out me buying one, since i think using creativity for something personal is better then being original and getting a case (no offense to anyone =) )

You can go to Lowe's or something and can get a big hard metal case with the styrofoam in it.

Get a cheap pistol case for your marker if custom is you thing. If you want something for everything a rifle case. Really though Dye and Planet Eclipse both put out really good marker bags.

These ideas are awesome, Does anyone happen to know a place where i could buy foam to support the marker? Would Michaels or a craft store sell that kind of stuff?

A case is just another piece of gear you have to drag to the field and worry about. You should have your marker completely set up before you leave your house. This way you can test fire it before you even go. Then just throw it in the back seat. Bring a towel if your really worried about scratches.

I bring a big duffle bag to play anyway, for my cloths so i don't need to get my car dirty, and the case I'm looking to get should fit inside of it...Caring a bag is something i prefer then just a marker. If the gun doesn't work, then id probably have to take it to the proshop to get fixed anyway.

Go to a thrift store and pick up a used briefcase, low cost hard shell, maybe even with a lock.
As far as foam goes, thick stiff sure to protect your marker is closed cell foam, try kayakoutfitting.com for the open cell foam try a camera shop or a place that ships stuff like a fedex store.
As far as the guitar case, little big, I would think the gun would fit in a violin case or a cello case, same shape, just smaller.

A simple neoprene laptop case is more than enough to protect a paintball gun. Just because the Rail seems light doesn't mean it isn't durable! Smart packing doesn't hurt, either.

A laptop backpack works awesome: I have a full empire gearbag but if I want to go out for a bit of play for 2-3 hrs I use my laptop backpack. Holds my ego 11 in the case in the sleve where the laptop would go, apex tip and parts kit in the other sleeve, rotor with hightop in front pocket, 70/4500 stubby in right mesh pocket, waterbottle/Gatorade in left mesh pocket podpack and mask strapped/clipped to outside and a pair of pants and shirt in main pocket It works great!!! It even has wheels and pull out handle and cost only $20 at walmart

Test marker before leaving YES! Keep it together in the back seat NO! 2 reasons why....1) Hard braking ( things happen ) and the marker hits with possible chips, breaks, etc and yes I know we dive so this is a bit of of a stretch. 2) I don't want it visible from outside. Cops go nuts and thieves drool!

a case is a smart idea

You do things your way and ill do them mine. I was just giving this kid some helpful advice. I Don't ride peoples *** when i drive so hard breaking isn't an issue for me. And since i always keep my gear on me, I've never had anything stolen in years. However i know several people with large gear bags that have stuff taken from them and don't find out till they get home.

Pelican cases are nice but expensive. I've seen people get a large Pelican that fits everything in it (marker, rotor, tank, barrels, etc.) Only downside to making a cool custom case is if someone else who thinks your custom case is cool and takes it from you.
