It'd be heavy as ****. Aluminum is the way to go.

from my understanding you cant really machine tungsten you have to grind it or EDM it. plus harder does not mean better in general the harder something is the more brittle it is. I work with tungston carbide laser clad sleeves pretty regularly if you even heat up the substrate too quickly you can get cracking of the tungsten due to the stress caused by differential thermal expansion.

Yeah... tungsten is a bad idea. Stainless would still be a bad idea. Ever shot a boomstick? Not even the titanium ones, just the old ones. There isn't to much metal there, but it weighs 2-3 times as much as a regular barrel. Also, I'm not super familiar with timmy parts, but I would imagine if anything was tungsten it was the ram. The body was definitely not tungsten. A tungsten body wouldn't help anything. And like nerve said, tungsten is hard as hell. Good luck milling it with a regular bit.

if your friend is any good at what he does he can measure the mini and its components himself and know with 100% certainty how much material he should be removing

also I dont want to rain on a parade but making the body out of stainless would not really accomplish anything other than make the marker more durable and heavier

aluminum is plenty durable for paintball though so I would just stick with the stock body

the last thing you would want is to make the walls too thin or even worse actually breech any sort of pressurized chamber as that would essentially scrap your body, unless you feel like tig welding a plug in and re-annoing it, even then the colors always look mismatched where the weld is

I know it may seem like everyone here is critisizing you but dont take it that way. We are mostly trying to save you the headache of doing something you may regret

one more thing

I went to school for 2 years to get my machinist cert. and we didnt touch CNC until the 2nd year. I am finishing my third year now to wrap up my associates in MET (last two classes actually)

I will say unless your friend is on that cnc machine daily for several months and has access to what ammounts to a well equipped job shop with a vast array of tools and fixturing, he most likely will not be giving you a fancy mill job.

The first semester he even see's a cnc machine will likely be spent writing his initials out in simple code on a 5x3 plate and doing other mundane manual coding just to familiarize himself with program generation.

If you do end up with some fancy crazy milled one off axe though definitely post that **** up.

and believe me I program and run cnc machines daily but I am still so far from the expert I really want to be

I trust in his abilities. A lot of this is over the top thinking from me, realistically I'm going to chop a little off and mill a cool logo in it.

If your thinking of making the "Simonized" axe with the s, or something like it. It's not as easy as you think. Just remember, that guy invented the axe. And he knows a lot about it.
