We got him out on the field the other weekend and he did great! It is defiantly something he will be wanting to peruse! It was awesome the amount of help people offered after we explained his situation out on the field.
To clear up some questions he is 100% deaf. When he was born he had most of it but it slowly degraded until he was 20 and lost it all. So he can read lips like a champ and talks 100% normally. When you talk to him most of the time its like having a normal conversation, you couldn't even tell he was deaf.
The walkie talkie idea is what we originally came up with but we would like something more compact. Also all of our awesome friends would just find out what channel were on and mess with it.
Oh ya and just on another note, were not trying to make the next pro team or make him into a pro player. Just trying to get our friend out on the speed ball field for some fast paced fun! Being able to have him play with us in a tourney would be an awesome accomplishment for him personally. We could careless if we lost every point!!

you know what i think theres a pretty good solution for this
you could stick something to his hopper with led's 1 led for S, one for D, ect and the one led labeled for 1, 2, 3, 4 or what ever. so with 2 led's on at a time he can see where they are.
To make it would not be very hard, you would need 2 wireless transmitters, and 2 receivers, the rest could be done with an aldruino chip and program it in.. im sure if you went to an aldruino forum they would build you a diagram exactly how to build it... i have never made aldruino hardware my self so i could only really help to a point.

Morse code? Would be simple and you could strap a transmitter to his arm or leg and come up with your own personlized codes. For the people transmitting, maybe a switch on right above the grip, somewhere comfortably and quick.
