04 prostock pump too loud
I just bought the thing and read the manual/did a little research online.
It is very loud. Any tips/help?
Also it has the stock reg (8 years old) on it and it was really cold when I shot it. Don't know if this is the reason or not.
Thanks so far to the people that have helped me, I seem to have fixed the issues.
update: the ivg was cranked in really far so i pulled it out to about the 3rd thread and it was shooting low. the manual doesnt say what you do if you want to adjust the reg. Im assuming its the same direction as every other reg but im not sure. Cant find too much info online about the stock regs.

what barrel is on it? the stock barrel doesnt have much porting...but in general autocockers are fairly quiet unless you have the pressures jacked way up.
stock reg is pretty good performance wise, just a pain to adjust.
another odd thing about cockers is that they can seem loud to you but from across the field you can barely hear them. its like the sound doesnt "carry" as far. i used to think the same about my karni till i loaned it out and watched from the sidelines one time.

did you do it over a chrono? the reg could be set properly for all we know. i think the general sweetspot for a wgp gun is the ivg about 2-3 threads in and whatever the reg needs to be set at to reach the desired fps.

to be honest i have no clue how to adjust the stock reg, i found a very small hole in the side but thats blocked by the trigger guard. so if thats it im going to have a fun time messing with it

If it's the stock reg that small hole is just a bleed hole, air comes out of there when the reg blows a seal. To adjust the stock reg is a PITA, you have to take the bottom of the reg off, where your input line is...... that is a cap and the adjustment is under that cap.

the reg
I own two Prostocks an 03 and an 04 one a pump and one mechanical with all the upgrades except the stock reg i have no problem with it the stock WGP regs were known to be quite consistent and an overall good stock regulator. Do you have an aftermarket adjustable LPR or the stock one? You may be jack hammering which means you are out of time and your gun is trying to work a lot harder than it needs to be. Barrel also has alot to do with it stock barrel has no porting when i first got my 03 got home put on my deadlywinds barrel it cuts the noise in half. Hope i helped!

It may be a long shot but I recently got a pump autococker that was very loud among other issues. Turned out the back trigger frame screw was replaced with one too long and was binding the spring. If you haven't already i'd pull the ivg and check.

I checked for that. The ivg was actually screwed all of the way in. so i pulled it out a bit and that solved the issues mostly. I would still like to adjust the reg to fine tune it.

The lpr is stock. How would I fix being out of time with the pump? I know how to fix the pneumatics timing but what do you mean with the pump?

Your pump arm is out of time. You may have used the wrong 'elbow grease'.

It was a joke.....
Your pump ARM.. ELBOW grease...
There is nothing to time on a pump..
If the IVG is in too far itll hit the valve a lot harder.
It should only be in two threads.

How many turns out should the reg be if my ivg is only 3 threads in?

that kinda just depends. every gun is going to be a little different so we cant give an exact measurement. youll need to do it over a chrono to be sure, but once its set youll most likely never have to adjust it again and can fine tune your fps via ivg.
