Every religion goes through this stage. During this time in Christianity, there was the Crusades, witch-hunts, public executions, and forced baptisms, culminating in the Reformation. My guess would be in a few years, this will all boil over and Islam will return to its usual state of relative peace.

There has never been a state of relative peace ever since islam was invented, and the fact that their violence is still occurring this long after it started means there is no hope in sight.

Right before Muhammad, the Middle East was divided, full of clan warfare. Hundreds died every day just from the wars. Muhammad and later his successors united the region, bringing peace to a region divided by war for thousands of years. I don't see how religion is a bad thing.

If it wasn't for Islamic scholars and Catholic monks, none of the knowledge that the Greeks or Romans had would have been passed on to you.

And who do you think provides some of the most aid in natural disasters? Religious organizations.

Religion isn't evil, religious intolerance is.

Edit: for this example of Muslim suicide bombers, a better statement would be religion isn't evil, but sometimes religious people are.
