I've always had at least one backup marker. Actually at least one backup full setup. This is the first time I've ever only owned two markers an bit 3 or 4.

You gotta play within your means. I'd rather have less of a gun if I can play more.

This right here, or something very similar. I don't care what anyone says, going from a ego to a geo or vice versa will screw you up beyond belief. Just because of the way the gun shoots. Adjustments come with time not switching in the middle of a point/tournament.

i usually have a complete setup for back up. Primary is Luxe/spire/ninja 68 and back up is luxe/rotor/empire 68. I have always had a back up, i have had guns go down on the field or in the pits and really do not have time to mess with them

Going from an Ego to a Geo isn't really that hard, although it's noticeable if you're going from say an Ego5/6 to a Geo2.
Changing tanks mid day to something longer/shorter/wider/narrower is more difficult than changing guns, or at least I've found that to be true in a tournament where I've played with an Axe, eXTCy, Etek3, and Mini without a noticeable impact at all from regularly using an Axe. Although, personally, I don't pay attention to my gun when I'm on the field at all, I aim down the edge of the barrel and start going away at the trigger without a second thought when I see somebody.

honestly i have 2-3 of everything. some of my team mates made fun of me but when their **** went down my gun was there to loan to them, or my spare loader or tank. even spare pods. bastards always take my batteries though!
I use 2 high ends (clone vx and cyborg rx) and now I have a third which is a shocker nxt. can't go wrong at all since all are well maintained too. that's the other key. but stuff can happen

It's a necessity for any serious tournament player. If your primary marker goes down in a tournament situation it's a much simpler solution to switch over to your secondary marker rather than try to fix the first one. It's possible the problem will be so severe that you will have neither the time nor resources to fix it in between games, and if you didn't have a secondary marker you would either be forced to sit out or would have to hope someone else has a gun you can use.
It's also not a bad idea to have a secondary hopper and tank.

You should always keep a backup marker. Even if it seems like you never need it, there's nothing worse then getting to the field and your gun not working so your stuck using a rental all day.

I typically shoot my geo3. I shoot my backup (Etha) in the woods or half of the time for open play.

I am a hardcore believer of only having one gun, I do not own a single back up. I take care of my **** and make sure everything works the night before and morning of. I have yet to have a gun go down on me during play.

Always have a back-up when you can. Empire Axe is mine that thing is a ****ing work horse. If its nasty out I will be playing with the axe. But I also have back ups for everything. Tank mask loader pants. You never know what you will encounter.

This is just a dumb comment. There are plenty of things that can go wrong with a well cared for marker. A backup gun is always recommended. Do you want to be THAT guy that is asking around to borrow gear after he claimed his super reliable "insert gun name here" would never need a backup?
I have a Drone DX, EGO 8, Trauma DM3 Matrix, and Shocktech Aftershock SFL Ebladed cocker with additional CCM Pump kit in my gear bag.
A backup hopper is also advised. Tank is less advisable because of the extremely low failure rate. Also they are cheap to rent/buy at tourneys. You'll never find a Halo Too or better hopper to rent anywhere.

I don't care what kind of gun he shoots. I have seen plenty of mags go down with issues in my 13yrs of playing. I've owned a few mags but never used them in tourneys due to them chopping paint like crazy. (this was before lvl 10)
