Communication is key. Awareness, playing tight to your bunker.

1. bring lots of water to drink.
2. eat breakfast!
3. bring a snack!
4. bring rags to clean your gear and wipe down hits(you do not want to get called on an old hit!)
5. bring a chair although you wont have much time to use it.
6. bring extra pods you might lose a few.
7. bring a squirt bottle with plain water to clean your goggles. It will save you from using to many rags plus clean them much better, than just trying to wipe them down with just the rag.
8. Relax have fun!

Oh by the way expect to lose. But be surprised and glad about what place you take. It is your first tourney. Everyone secretly hopes to be the next pro baller but most of all to minimize your learning in the future try to learn from your mistakes this time and every time you play.

What? Why would you wait??? Shoot the opposing player in and move! Waiting 3 seconds gives them plenty of time to snap back out.

Learn to run and gun. As I stated before, shoot a player in and move. Don't be afraid of making moves.

i think he was just trying to keep it simple..

Also keep an eye on the clock. Im guessing the matches will be timed, you dont want to run out of time knowing you had a chance to win the point.

A lot of what you need to do to win happens OFF the field as well as on.

1. Make sure your guns work and that you have backup. For some reason guns that work flawlessly always break down at tournaments. It's just some weird curse lol. Bring backup.

2. Don't spend a lot of time sitting around doing nothing. When you get there, the first thing you do is load up, air up and chrony your guns. Get your gear ready to go first. Then chrony again shortly before game time once your guns are climatized to the conditions of the day. It's best if you split up your jobs to save time. Like one guy buys paint, one guy fills pods, one guy airs up guns. Whoever gets done first jumps in to help the others. This is a team effort.

3. You want that gear ready so you can start to WATCH GAMES. Everyone's strategy sounds good up front but fields can often play differently than you expect. After every game you actually play, reload quick, wipe down your bodies and get back to watching games. Especially teams you will be playing. Most low to medium skill teams tend to stick to one plan all day. If you KNOW that plan it will go a long way towards beating them. You'll also learn which bunkers are important and which players are playing hot. Angles to be aware of that you may have missed. Basically WATCH WATCH WATCH. Sitting at your table fooling around is wasted time. This s what the losing teams do.

4. As others have mentioned keep hydrated and eat small snacks, not meals. Drinking a bit of water after every game is best. Usually by the time you're thirsty, it's too late to hydrate quickly so keeping a steady moderate flow works the best. Don't eat a huge meal, it will slow you down. Snack lite. Avoid burgers and pizza and stuff like that. They will weigh you down. Make some nice sammiches at home or something. Fruit is always good too.

5. If possible bring a couple groupies or friends along to watch your gear when you can't. If not don't leave anything at your table that you don't want stolen. Keep your guns with you at all times. Barrel condoms on of course You may want to bring extra ones....as well as extra pods too. Both tend to go missing a lot at tournaments.

6. Bring tools.........even backup guns can fail. Make sure you have what you need to fix a gun on demand. You can keep tools and stuff in your car if it's not far. Or make one of your groupies the Tool Mule. You'll probably need to adjust and rechrony during the day so at least have those tools close at hand.

7. If they allow side line coaching.......bring someone with a big mouth and a loud voice that you can trust and distinguish from the crowd. A lot of events don't allow coaching so it really depends.

8. Don't over dress. Too much clothing will make you hot and slow. You want to be warm and flexible, but not to the point of sweating like crazy.

9. Oh.......make sure to check each other and wipe off old hits after each game! I've seen TONS of players pulled on old hits during games. It's your responsibility to keep clean so do a good job and help each other out.

10. Learn from your losses. Don't ***** and blame each other. The past is irrelevant, you can only change the future. You win as a team, you lose as a team.

11. Remember it's not about how many points you lose, it's how many points you GET that wins you the event. That first grab alone is worth more than shooting out the whole team. Get at it! Make sure you watch everyone's points as the day goes on. There may be times when you need to change your strategy to be sure you progress to semis and finals. For example.....you may only need to make first grab to get into semis. So you make sure you do it. Playing safe and stalemating will knock you out. Getting a couple eliminations and running out of time will knock you out. One grab and you're in, even if you lose the game. See what I mean? Pay attention to the score board.

12. Have some fun and be a good sport.

Having fun is the most important thing.

Only thing I haven't seen noted in here is if you get shot out, don't always look at what you did wrong. Ask yourself, what did they do better?

Location is key, get good angles on your opponent. Also don't try complicated break outs, keep it simple and relax. Don't fear getting shot, if all you think about is the pain of getting lit up on a move you're not going to make it.

put brand new fresh batteries like duracell or energizer in your gun and loader. dont take a chance with them. that way if something does go wrong, you dont have to waste time undoing grip screws and getting into a battery compartment. some tourney rules allow only 2 min between games which is really just enough time to wipe your stuff down and refill. theres a chance youll end up playing 2 games back to back which makes 2 minutes feel like 30 seconds. bring extra pods if you can and fill as many as possible as soon as you get there so you in between games you can just grab and go. fill pods and air when theres a couple matches inbetween yours, and chrono your gun from time to time. dont wanna get a penalty later in the day because your fps rose a little from earlier when it was a little cooler outside.

Lots of good tips here. Remember the way of the samurai. Go into battle determined to live, and surely you will parish. Go into battle determined to die, and you will be victorious. Something along those lines anyway.

Need a comma in there or it can be read as:

"If you know you're going to win, in your mind it will be so."

instead of

"If you know you're going to win in your mind, it will be so"

The first one is not so great.....second much better.
