From what I've seen...no it's not. The lone time I saw the stuff being shot, it didn't break with the consistentcy of .68 paint. In my mind that leads to a lot of drama.

Me neither, i haven't noticed anything different about it, but that its a bit harder to find, doesn't break as much, you'd need a gun upgrade or a completely new gun to use it.
Over all, Why?

Exactly. The allure just isn't there. It's a poor attempt at a money making venture that adds very little to the sport.

i played .50 for a good while went through like 25 - 40 thousand rounds, it was a different game, you can shoot forever and your accuracy doesnt waiver from ball on ball, you just lose a little range, it was great, .68 cal is growing much faster

It's not the size of the balls the make the fun, it's how you use them.

I've never shot 50 cal, are the guns just relatively smaller and a smaller caliber round?

I only have experience using 50 cal through a JT splatmaster shotgun which isn't gas powered at all so it only breaks when you hit the other person in the gun or their mask. Given that, it's actually kind of fun.

They come in the same packages as .68 cal. The Ego SLS has a 50 cal kit available but there are also the JT splatmasters that take 50 cal and is just spring powered.
My thoughts:
Pros - You can definitely hold more paintballs in a hopper just because of the size difference and it makes playing with something silly like splatmasters alot of fun.
Cons - You definitely have to hit someone in an ideal spot or you'll bounce all day off of pads and loose clothing.

.50 doesn't carry as much energy as .68 so it wouldn't break as easily. Hurts less, but it is for kids, not tournaments where you're spending a lot and put many hours into practice.

Actually, .50 would be amazing for the aggressive front man.
Just imagine, you could pick up an Etek1 and the conversion kit for a total of $300, make an adapter for the hopper, and use a Kingman Fasta/Halo/Spire/Pinokio/Prophecy/Vlocity and head out with 350 rounds in your loader, and two pods on your back at 500 round and just blow right up to snake 50 and rip from there.

I'm thinking back for Xball. All the problems with distant and breaking who cares. Mike Phillips did a video where he held a couple of guys in their bunkers for a near eternity. Even if you have the aim like artillery and lob the rounds in this tactic still works.

50. is okay i guess its not really 'good".If you were to just go out and play with friends sure but never in a actual game very innacurate and also the only paint tht i can find is jt splatmaster witch is garbage, and then gi paint wich i can only get through ans or my local store witch is roughly 2 hours away

Something tells me you've never tried .50 in a game of speedball...
Also, .50 in itself isn't inaccurate, ****ty .50 is (Just like ****ty .68 is. Since you mentioned the JT paint, do you only have experience with the JT markers shooting at 115fps which still wouldn't be very playable with .68?

I have tried 50 in a game of paintball. And i have used gi paint to i own a a g.i. milsim micro 50 with a upgarded barrel and electronic spyder hopper.Witch let me refrase this for all of you who will hold me down with spam and stuff not worth saying.50.cal can be fun but it is NOT suggested for tournaments.Mabey in a game of speedball at your local field but not a tournament they say it has about the the same splatter but it doesent.Good part though is that is cheap and if a younger kid under the ages of 12 they can use it and not get welts or bruises.Over all i would give it a 4.5 out of 5 stars
