Nerf Ammo alternative

Try something lower in price ? You might want to try these.

My source says these will sell for around 2.00 each with a minimum order

of six plus S/H.

PM me if you are interested.

Deffinetly let us know how they do. $3 to $4 a piece for nerfs gets pricey when you launch 40 + and get maybe 5 back...

Not meaning to bump at all, but what about these?
http://www.evike.com/product_info.ph...ducts_id=38761

For launching I was thinking one of these.....
http://www.evike.com/product_info.ph...ducts_id=33476

I play both airsoft and paintball. The launcher is manufactured, hence within most field's rules nowadays. The balls are basically a stress ball which is similar to nerf rockets.

The launcher is a knock off of one which is presently being used by
our Marine Corps as well as other military elements around the world.
The only trouble is it needs six AirSoft grenades and from looking at
the chamber length I doubt there'd be enough room for both the
grenade and a Nerf. You may be able to insert Nerfs in the barrel
and fire them that way. Based on testing I did some time ago you
ought to be able to lob the Nerf 75 feet or so, when you use a Mad
Bull grenade charged with CO2. Green or Red gas charged greandes
aren't going to deliver the same range as the pressure is lower.

Sincerely,

I was thinking of using the shorter grenade rounds with co2 that way the balls may fit into the individual chambers. The needing 6 grenades is expensive but I have also been contemplating a single M203 slung under my gun.

But do you believe the balls would be acceptable as a replacement or stand in for nerfs?

203

I hadn't considered switching out the Nerfs for
some form of foam ball. Just wondering what
the range would be, not to mention accuracy.
At least with the Nerf you've got fins to help
stabilize things, whereas with the ball you're
going to have to count on the spin created by
the bore to do that.

Personally I'd opt for a 203 launcher, either
the short or long bore version, depending on
the length of your barrel and if you go with
the Mad Bull rounds consider buying one that
lets you fire 3 68 caliber pellets. That way
you'll have an option for close quarters use,
as well as a way to launch your Nerf.

Sincerely,

I have tried the foam balls a bit and they work ok. The pros are you can load several at a time and they are a lot cheaper. Sometimes they will go flying all over the place and sometimes they are dead on. I have tried a couple different kinds. The higher quality are 51 mm, fit snug in a Havoc and are comparable foam to a Nerf (Marvel in the pic below). I can shoot them dozens of times with no real wear. The cheaper ones are 49 mm, will roll down the barrel, are softer than a Nerf and start to break apart after hitting something solid (yellow smileys in the pic below).

The three smiley balls are stuck together with a bit of masking tape. This is to create a "multi-warhead" rocket for games where ammo is limited. Once fired the balls separate.

Test Firing

Where to buy for about $0.40 each. There are several styles. If you don't want 250, you can find them on eBay for a little more per ball.

If you see me at a game, ask for a sample.

Here's another idea which might also work, it involves using
what are called squash balls. According to a friend of mine
who used them they come in different densities. Find one
which is soft enough and you might find it's also durable
enough to standf up to repeated firings. You might try and
see if you can apply a thin coat of petrolium jelly follwed
by a dusting of 'snap line power.' That way you'll leave
a mark on the tank where the round hit it. That's how
the NJ ARNG used to treat the Nerfs they fired from the
modified Alias MKX launchers which we made up to look
like RPGs against vehicles they run through their counter
IED training course.

I have been seeing and hearing a lot of jump out and blasting a tank up close and personal, Bunkers too. Sound tactic depending on the situation. I am thinking a 50 yard shot at most, testing required. The nerf rounds can fly further and straighter, no doubt. But nerfs are also expensive, and hard to find, and usually not returned to the owner.

Now, The launchers are manufactured, which fulfills many requirements at fields. I would not mind a havoc, but for some reason I just don't like them. Reminds me of an M79 without wood.

My idea is to have nerfs for longer range, and the balls for up close.

I am considering the longer barreled M203, and may just the 6 pack launcher just for giggles.

If anyone want to go to PM we can.

Foam Balls

Hey..just a thought on the foam balls (thanks for bringing them to our attention too!) Are they hard enough to put/drill a hole all the way through them without falling apart? Once hole is drilled, could you tie a piece of ribbon through it or glue the ribbon to the ball? A tail added should give the ball some more stability as it flys through the air. Thoughts?? Thanks.

Not sure about the foam rounds described by others,
but the Squash balls vary in size, as well as weight.
Squash balls measure between 39.5 and 40.5 mm in
diameter, and have a mass of 23 to 25 grams. You
can find them in at least 4 different densities, which
translates into how far they bounce.

A teammate has added a streamer to the foam balls . I think he just cuts a slit and then glues the end of the streamer in the slit. You could probably put a hole threw them with a skewer or knitting needle.

Thanks PS7 for letting me know about the streamers. Do they help your buddy with the flight of the foam ones? Thanks.

Thanks CAJ. Again..has anyone tested these yet to see how they hold up? If they have a paintball holder, signs like they were kind of designed for the sport. Any more data? Thanks.
