899th MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Vernon Middlebrook and the rest of the 899th Blackcats
want to wish everyone a very safe and Merry Christmas.
If you'd like to share in the challenge of hunting down
and killing German armor, the 899th is the place for you.

Getting to D-Day

Chris1988,

I can relate to how tough things are, but if you're serious about making it to
D-Day consider checking to see if there isn't someone who'd be willing to let you
ride along for a share of the gas bill. Other options include hooking up with
one of the groups who will be passing through your area. The Bad Monkeys, out
of the Orlando area come to mind as a team that might be worth checking out.
The past couple of years they've brought one or more of their tanks as well as
a contingent of players who serve in the Allied Army's 899th Blackcat Tank Killer
unit. You might also consider posting a note on the D-Day Forum, to see if you
can find some help there.

Sincerely,

Me and my dad are going to try to make it to D-Day 2013. We were going to go this year but some stuff came up so we had to pass. We've never been out there before but it looks like a lot of fun!

We'll be glad to have you both join us. Have
you talked about which side you'd like to be
on, or which unit you'd like to join yet?

Sincerely,

No, we haven't talked much about that yet. Probably Allied Forces though. And I don't know about what unit

CEF Best Wishes

The following is a transcript of a letter posted to the
members of the Commonwealth Expeditionay Forces,
by Sir Ray Adams their Commanding Officer.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ray Adams, Commonwealth Expeditionary Force
As I look back on 2012, I am amazed at the sheer number
of events played, the number of miles traveled and the
accomplishments of the CEF. We won awards in multiple
countries, we were a deciding factor in numerous worldwide
games, we celebrated our 10th Birthday, a Homecoming at
our world Headquarters.... and there was CAKE, everywhere
we went!!
I want to thank each of you for your hard work and dedication
to me and to a casual athletic paintball team. Without your time,
resources and planning, we'd just be another annual unit at OK
D-Day. We have some awesome plans for the coming year, with
opening up an additional two Flagship games and two super
awesome European location events. The Commonwealth Compound
at OK D-Day is going to get a new, larger pavilion, to replace our
aging GP Medium. It will be well lit and will be around 20' wide and
40' long. The Headquarters site at CDWC will get an additional ten
Quonset huts, each 20' by 24', a pavilion of 20' by 40' and at least
two hot showers. We're going to start a CEF online store with the
initial order of CEF hoodies, which will start shipping after the new
year. This will be followed by the CEF polos, sometime in the third
week of January. Lastly, I want to thank you all for allowing an
old paintballer from BFE, North Carolina to lead some of the most
incredible people on this planet. Each of you are very special to
me. You've made my job as the CO almost as easy as breathing.
Take care, be safe and have a very Happy New Year. Cheers
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

If you're looking for a team that's much more involved with where
this sport is headed than just about any other, give some serious
thought to joining the CEF. They're always looking to add new
members to their ranks, regardless of what part of the world you
come from. For more details on this truely global team send a
brief note to the attention of Sir Ray c/o harlyhunk@hotmail.com

I'm gonna finally make it to one of these when I'm a civilian again, hopefully I'll save up enough terminal leave to be out in time for 2014.

Snake13,

We'll keep a slot open for you when you get back and
till then thanks for your service. In the past we've had
a number of people who just returned from the sand
box join us. lso had one Canadian, with the CEF, who
flew in from Kandahar. This year he'll be leading their
team's operations over in the UK and France.

Death Dealer

The 'Death Dealer' is just the latest CEF armored vehicle to be
added to their growing inventory. Here's a brief view of both
the vehicle and the D-Day field which was captured during a
recent event.

If you're looking to join a Allied Army unit for this year's 'D-Day
Event,' consider hooking up with the CEF, the only truly globial
paintball team.

Haven't played d-day in years and think I'm going to try to make it out this year... I heard about bad air fills last year and hope that it's fixed because I don't shoot the most efficient guns. Other than that, it seems like a fun change of pace from speedball.

There was only two issues early on....at Utah and the Airfield. These issues were quickly addressed by the Game Staff.

We need to keep in mind it is very difficult to keep up with servicing the number of players that attend D-Day. It gets better, year by year, but admittedly it is not problem free. The great thing, red or blue, everyone helps each other in the DZ's.

Also, a VERY important note....this year there will be NO, I repeat NO CO2 this year. So, start shopping for HPA tanks, lol.

Allied Army O.S.S.

We wanted to bring to everyone's attention again this year
some details about the one 'Allied Army' unit that stands
head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to what
they bring to D-Day. This unit is our O.S.S.
(Office of Strategic Services).

Back in WW II the OSS was a unit which conducted special
small unit operations behind the lines missions not just in
Europe, but in places like SE Asia, Korea, and Africa.

At the end of WW II President Trumann shut down the OSS,
but it wasn't long before him realized that he needed their
skills to counter what the Russians were doing so they formed
a new unit to do many of the same things and called it the CIA.

Out in Oklahoma we've merged what the OSS did and CIA do
today and given them some pretty tough missions. If you think
you've got what it takes to be a part of this special unit, let me
know and I'll tell you how to get in touch.

Here's a look at what they're looking for.

Office of Strategic Services (OSS)

Office of Strategic Services, or colloquially known as OSS,
is the Allied Force's premier special missions unit. OSS performs,
but is not limited to:

1. Long Range Reconnaissance
2. Raids
3. Augmentation of main combat forces
4. Psychological operations
5. Sniper missions

Successful 'candidates' have one or more of the following attributes:
former or current Army (11B, 11Z, 18 series), Air Force (1C4X1,
1C2X1) and Marine (0311, 0321-0369), 5+ years of paintball
experience, high physical fitness (must be able to carry a minimum
of 30 lbs over rough terrain), climbing ability, very intelligent with
high procedural knowledge. You must be able to eat a full spool of
razor wire during a static line jump. Upon completing that, you will
need to go three minutes in the ring with every person in the unit
after drinking aviation fuel and crawling through broken glass. Yep,
it's not easy having a good time.

While the criteria is high, there is no harm in contacting us. Criteria
are weighed differently for each person.

Most important: BE HONEST.

Nothing sucks more than coming out to Oklahoma and realizing
you're not prepared to play hard.

As of 2012, we will not accept applications for couples (boyfriend-
girlfriend, husband-wife, etc). There have been negative performance
issues associated with this combination. Feel free to bring your
significant other along, but keep in mind that only one of you will
be allowed to play as a member of the OSS.

If you think you got what it takes, contact me and include your POC
details - address/phone.

~~~~~~~~~
Finally, this clip doesn't accuately represent what the OSS does at
D-Day, but many in their ranks do come with these kinds of real
world credentials.
CEF Defends Church
Here's a clip showing what it's like when you have to defend
the church in Colleville. Note, the number of attackers who
attacked in this event wasn't nearly as many as you'll face
during the actual D-Day Event.
Hats off to the CEF for holding out.
