Looking at replacing one of my older Crossfire tanks and wasn't interested in a Ninja cause of the cracking tank issues.

Came by this one called a Guardian. Is it a rebrand? Any reviews?

My guess would be rebranded. It's hard to tell what reg style that is from that picture.

The cracking is actually the cylinder manufacturers fault for making the outer black lacquer coating too hard. Ninja is also replacing the cylinders for users that experience the issue. As long as the inner clear coat and fibers aren't compromised the tank is fine to use.
Also their 'grey ghost' systems which don't have the black lacquer coating are not experiencing the issue and the Dura tanks are not having the issue either. It's only the black tanks.

That being said I am not familiar with that regulator. It looks like a Pure Energy/Empire based design but it's not one of them. It could be some kind of knock off to be totally honest which makes me a touch wary. It's not so much the cylinder it's the reg you really have to watch out for.
Many of the companies are making 'grey ghost' systems these days to be more cost conscience. So if you were still wary of Ninja, Empire makes a basic grey tank that uses a Reactor 2 reg.

We've been having a discussion about Guardian over on another website. We would be VERY surprised if this reg and bottle were not a knockoff coming from asia.

Something interesting to note: POST#13 where it says:
"Number on here is (909) 869-1116.

The box also has a website on it, guardianairsystems.com. When I tried it, it sends you to tactical-mod.ca. Can't see anything on here that says "Made in" anywhere."

Now I want you to call the "SUPPORT" number the customer found on his box (909) 869-1116. Tell us which company you just called

its a Generic Voicemail, which noone has returned messages we left and several players left. You dont even know who you're contacting. The part of the post that says "When I tried it, it sends you to tactical-mod.ca. Can't see anything on here that says "Made in" anywhere." also has me a little worried.

So, what happens when you get a leak and need help? Where do you buy parts to fix this reg? Where do you go to get phone or email support or will you even get it at all? Can you come on PBNation, type a question and get it answered by Guardian? no...

AGAIN - I must reiterate...cheapest isnt always best....

NINJA CRACKED TANK ISSUE - this was resolved at the beginning of August and not 1 single new bottle that is made by that manufacturer has had an issue since they revised their gel coat formula and curing process. Even if you did have an issue, you would at least get support on it from our company...if you buy a Ninja

How can I identify if the tanks are all the new batches from August onward?

or should I stay with the grey ghost versions?

You would have to see what the Born on date is on the DOT label. So if you're going to buy one, buy one from your local field so you can verify the manufacturer date. If you buy online they still may have older new stock.

I would ask the the on-line store for that info before I buy.

Yep, just ask for the born on date (hydro date that the bottle was made). As long as you get one with 08/12 or newer, you should not run into that problem.

Again, if you do, we will take care of you without any money out of pocket expense to you. We have a great warranty program where our manufacturer pays for shipping both ways and takes care of the warranty work. I think with the other guys, you have to at least pay shipping to get the cracked bottle to them.
