That one seems pretty solid. You might want to buy a counter weight also. It will help balance the rig so that your arms don't get tired as fast. (You should be able to have the rig on your shoulder and be able to let go of the handles, once it's balanced)

I haven't used a gini rig, but I've only heard good things. www.cheesycam.com has reviews on his stuff.

Awesome, thanks again. This is exactly what I have been looking for. Good quality with a fair price.

Been working on this for a while for a local clothing company. Lift. Cool guys, fun project, please let me know what you think. The ideas and locations were their ideas for the most part, I had a bit of freedom with it all though. Please let me know what you guys think!
Just a

Just a general video to show a bit of the brands vibe, identity, product and the area where it all goes down.

I think it came out pretty nice. What did you use to shoot it?

Never posted this. Don't expect many people to sit through a 30 minute piece, but here it is...

Recently won 2012 Platinum Best of Show Aurora Award (documentary-historical). Just got accepted into Heartland Film Festival. Nominated for the 2012 (maybe 2013? I'm not sure how the years work) regional Emmys. Basically a resume boosting project from college.

I did a couple of the shots in there. Most of my involvement with the project was doing a vignette on an individual district of Muncie (on the first page of this thread).

*Side note. My friend just won his 8th Emmy. The nice things about Ball State is that they pay the entry fees for your projects. Wish I would have done more projects like this while I was in school.

Awesome stuff! beautiful cinematography! I didn't really pay much attention to the content, but it was put together well!

Thanks! 90% of the camera work was done by my good friend, Brian.

http://vimeo.com/user4566591

He has some cool stuff on his vimeo page. He's out in New Orleans working as a Camera Assistant now.

In all, around 40 people worked on the project. Only around 15 were on the production/post production side of things.

Like the video, but would have liked to have seen more of the products. I thought the cuts were kind of fast. Think the best product/vibe shot was them dancing at night with the bright colored shirts.

A while ago I expressed interest in buying a slider, steadicam/shoulder rig, and mic. I think I'm ready to make a few budget-friendly purchases and would like some opinions.

Does anyone have experience with cheap tripod-mount sliders? The reviews of this seem fine. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...=REG&A=details

Also think of going with Rode Mic and/or the Zoom H1, though the Rode mic doesn't impress me much with isolated sound.

Finally, I can't decide over a steadicam or shoulder rig. I feel like most of my videos won't have much of me walking with the camera, but I'd like something to give me a smooth look.

Thanks ahead!

That slider seems fine. Friction sliders are less smooth than bearing sliders, so don't expect miracles. However, for the price I'm sure it's ok.

I'd get the zoom h1. You can buy a cheap wired lav, hook it up, and stick it in the talent's back pocket. Even if you decide to upgrade audio gear in the future, the h1 can be useful. The rode is something that you'd replace all together.

Shoulder rig is going to be more useful to you. Steadicams take practice, and are usually for specialty shots. Your arm would get way tired using one for a full day of shooting without a vest. A shoulder rig isn't going to be as smooth though.

I wouldn't get a friction slider. Too easily to get gunky and just more of a hassle. There's a cheaper version of the konova slider type that I saw at prophoto in Portland, OR but I can't think of the brand. The konova slider is expensive but golden!

Yeah this kind of tapped me out as it is and I wanted something before the season started. I actually wanted to get the xf100 originally, then I saw this. Can't really beat it for the price.
