I pushed in the ring, and tried for an hour straight and it won't come out!

Take a box end wrench smaller than the ring, slide it over the macroline. Grip the macroline with one hand and pull while pushing the fitting away with the wrench.

Usually works better than trying to push on the ring with your fingers.

Yup.........this is the best way to do it. It'll work. Your fingers are too soft to really push hard on the ring when it's tight like that.
