I already had a VX, and it was sooo smooth. The shot was just so crisp, felt right in my hands, super quiet... then I heard about a gas-thru Clone... had to try it.
I'll never go to a PE or Dye after shooting MacDev

No reason to go Dye unless it's for a mask or loader, and even then the Spire beats the Rotor and the E-Flex/Grills beat the i4. That's just my opinion though.

Their is definitely something that Macdev does special with their guns. Having a geo3 and a Gt. the GT just offers a better shot. People like the geo3 because its simple but if you had a GT you would realize how simple it is to maintain.

The only people who complain about the complexity of a MD gun are people who have never owned them and just spew that bs because they heard someone else say it.

I honestly thing what the "problem" is with the GT is that the drivetrain seems horrendous at face value with all the orings and such. If anyone spent 5 minutes to look into it they would know that less than half of them are dynamic seals that ever need any attention. Knowing is half the battle

Very true. I Refuse to voice an opinion negative or positive to a gun that I have not owned. I think a day shooting one or picking up doesn't really Count. I like the reviews of some guns and people really like them then a month later they hate them after the bugs show up.

Seemed complex to me at first, but that was coming from an ego LOL. After i got it apart a few times tho, no big.

Agreed. With the help of a good color manual and standard orings it's pretty simple to work with.

This is the exact reason you never see me comment when the discussion of Geo3 vs GT comes up, since I've never owned a 3.

Exactly. I mean an Ego is as simple as it gets, but if comparing spool to spool the maintenance procedures are roughly the same with just a few more o-rings to lube.

is there a diagram/explanation of the dynamic vs static orings? I've only had my clone a month and its been fine, but I'd rather not wait till something happens to do my homework :p

Dynomatt, dynamic o-rings are o-rings that move against a surface, static are just there to seal only and never move.

I believe someone made a nice thread about it in the MD section. I'll see if I can find it unless Mark want's to chime in

Absolutely 100% agreed with this statement. Love the spire and wish I could use it

You are mostly right, the static orings should almost never need attention or swapping. The will occasionally get nicked on accident or just get worn out from removing and installing the drivetrain, but that's pretty unavoidable IMO.
Thanks for calling me on a technicality dick

Dynomatt, dynamic o-rings are o-rings that move against a surface, static are just there to seal only and never move.
|
lol i knew what it meant.
I was thinking along the lines of a leak diagnosis type thread but theres a little info on that at the end of the clone faq so i think i can manage

I wrote this up in the last thread we had that was just sort of a quick explanation on some things.
Poor efficiency:
Valve o-rings not sealing completely or nicked
Any dynamic o-ring could be too snug, hand fit for best performance
- dymanic o-rings (powertube, valve, bolt switch, keg/spacer inner)
Leak out barrel:
Bolt tip o-ring
Powertube tip o-ring
Bolt keg inner o-ring
Front most outer 020 o-ring on bolt keg
Leak out trigger frame:
Valve o-rings
Powertube mid o-ring
Bolt switch o-ring
Subplate B o-rings
Squeaky noise every trigger pull:
4x1 o-ring below screw securing the foregrip to the frame
Leaking out bottom of reg:
6x1 o-ring below reg seat

Whoever has said the tech help for MDs are non-existent apparently has never asked for help. It may be slightly harder to find said help than compared to dye or Pe but I'd say its friendlier and more proficient.

Ever asked for help in the PE section? There's about a dozen dick hard fan boys that like to make you feel like a moron for even having a problem. Kinda erks me that guys would do that. If you know the answer then help, if not then shut the **** up and don't be a douche.
