I thought laser engraving only burns through the anno (or bleaches the dye in the anno), so you see the base aluminum where the engraving is.
When a marker is re-annoed, shouldn't they take the old anno off (what's left of it) in an acid bath, before the new anno is done.
So I don't see a problem with a re-anno of a laser engraved marker.

Axe was gloss black before laser engraving, Mini was dust black before laser engraving - you can see the difference in the "shine" of the finishes.
