The speed that the chrono is set to beep at can be changed. There are a few different versions of circuit board for the "Big Red" and the process is a little different for each. Your best bet would be to contact the manufacturer, Custom Chronograph. The "Big Red" model is no longer made but they should still be able to help you set it.

Just push and hold the button for about 30 seconds... then it will go into program mode, and each time you push the button, it will cycle up through the numbers.

This is only true with some of the variants. I had at least 3 different circuit boards in all the "Big Reds" I owned and this method only worked with one of them.

Mine changes directions with each button press. So you press and hold it and it will cycle down or up, whatever direction it is going.

On the older versions, there were dip switches to change inside on the circuit board.

no definitely not dip switches they both beeped at 300 over the summer at my house...now that our field has been open a few months...it happened at the field.....i haven't been there because the weather in upstate NY leaves a lot to be desired right now....i tinkered with holding the button...but not 30 seconds...i will try it out holding longer some point this week when the weather gets better!

... I bet the manufacturer can help you figure out which variant you have and then tell you exactly how to change the settings on that model... Just sayin'

ok i have gotten them both set to 280....... one was a push the button kind then it cycled up and down through the numbers.....the second was dip switches....a brief explanation for anyone who has this problem in the future....there are numbered dip switches on the inside........the chronos start at 200...when you open it the factory setting is 2 switches marked 100 switched right....the top one has no function...and the second one gives the plus 100 to the factory 200 giving you a beep at 300.......so to set your speed anywhere from 200 to 300 move all the dip switches to the left.....and move the switches to the right that when added with 200 make your field speed......so i wanted 280 for a beep.....so i moved all switches left...then moved the one marked 80 to the right!

Nice, I'll have to remember that should I ever come across one in the future.
