Old School Impulse! Need Help! Almost Got This Thing Back Up And Shooting

ok, so i filled my tank a little bit ago, got the hpr tuned where the valve didnt leak...then i tightened down my solenoid and it worked leak free...it shot good...(been close to a year since its been shot full on), but it still didnt have the velocity that you would see in regular guns (if i had to guess, it wasnt going over like 220..) < now this is what i need help on now

Edit: also like to put in that i'm using a 50/4500 ninja with both red shims in (output is around 850-ish psi. can take it down to as low as 500 psi output)

18. What is the brass or silver piece on the vertical adapter?

It is called a Pressure Relief Valve or PRV for short. The purpose of the Pressure Relief Valve is to vent excessive pressure if your reg goes over 220-230psi. This is to save the solenoid and stop it from blowing.

The PRV is like an insurance policy. Normally you do not need it, but if and when you do and it's not there you will be VERY unhappy.

Find a way to keep the PRV on your Impulse. Put it on a vertical adapter or VFF. If that is not an option put it in the air inlet port on the back of the Impulse.

turn the allen screw on the side of the cp reg. watch the gauge to see if it goes up or down. you want to turn it down if you are setting off the PRV

turn it down to get it to a lower pressure.
that is a custom products regulator get the istructions to turn it down off their website customproducts.us
once you get it to a pressure that isnt going to blow the solenoid/set off the prv then you are getting closer to good to go.

Do you still have the original maxflo regulator?

I had an internal leak on my impulse recently
I turned the pressure down and that helped somewhat,
I cleaned and lubed the poppet and that helped more
Finally i cleaned the solenoid and that fixed it
Turns out the solenoid was pretty dirty which was causing it not to seat/seal(?) correctly and causing a tiny leak

I could tell you how to clean and set all of the above, but youre better off looking in the manual

i do not..i bought it off my cousin about a year ago..today, i went throught, tore it down, and lubed all the orings with eclipse oil...went down to the poppit..

ill take clean the noid tomorow since im out for winter break..i unfortunatley will not have air till friday or saturday unless i run into town tomorow to get some..

Note: might be trading a guy the pump in sig for a v2 i frame (?), good deal? ive held one of them before, and liked it..but never shot one..

Good luck on that solenoid, its actually pretty easy but just make sure you dont lose any small parts, for example the spring that pops out when you first take that cap off of the solenoid.

I feel your pain when it comes to air, dicks only does co2 here, no other place except the paintball fields fill air, and i was having to go once a week to refill a tank that would go empty in two days due to a popping poppet oring on an intimidator...

i couldnt tell you if its a good deal or not unfortunately. Im a noob around these here parts lol. Scored my impulse free with the purchase of a highly discounted carbon hpa tank. I considered selling it then figured id keep it

you'd be better off selling the pump, getting a dremel with the money and half blocking that body/ doing some custom milling work.
