I am starting a new project. I am going to convert my D-Boys 98k bolt action airsoft gun that ejects shells. It is bolt action. What I am wondering is if anyone has any ideas for a trigger. My idea is a 12 gram quick change adapter in the foregrip, then run that to the trigger than bolt. When the bolt is closed I am thinking a controlled burst of air just enough to do th job with out empting the 12 gram. It will also need to be able to adjust the velocity.
Does anyone have any ideas.

I don't think I mentioned this but I only want it to single feed first strike rounds.

I dont know how much room you have in the gun to make stuff. But I imagine you would want to pull back a drive spring when you work the bolt. the trigger would release the spring which would activate a poppet valve. It would work just like any other poppet valve pump gun.

Some of what you just said went over my head. do you know of a gun that i could part out that would work. In most areas i have a lot of room to work with. in the 98k there in an internal 5rd magazine that i will remove. This gives me a good 6 - 10 square inch area to work with on top of the other room. To fit the barrel i will have to make some modifications to the breech and the stock. the bolt can be completely be gutted and i will post some pictures later. i hav most of it worked out but the trigger and the bolt. have you ever seen a buzz bee hawk. in the internals there is a hose that runs to a deturmined spot. when the bolt is closed a hole in the bolt lanes up with the hose and that is how the air gets transported. I really like this idea but i am wondering how it will hold to a high pressure of air. I am not sure what a 12 gram comes out as but it will probibly at least need to work with a 3000 psi. I really dout that i will ever hook any of my 45s up to it.

3000 & 4500 psi is the internal pressure of your air tank. The output pressure is typically around the 800psi range (Ninja SHP tank reg outputs 950-1100 psi, Ninja LP is about 450-600 psi and Ninja SLP is ~400 psi).


Your project will most likely work easier if you take an existing marker (such as a spyder), modify it and fit it into a rifle stock. This may end up being more cost effective as well (most of the internals from that airsoft rifle will not be usable due to size difference of airsoft and paintball).

Also, instead of running a direct hose to the bolt, it may be simpler to run a hose from your air source to a manifold

As for guns to take apart check the BST forums for old spyders or spyder clones, those guns are all the same and are all cheap as dirt. The spyders are semi auto (but easily converted to pump) if you want one that is already a pump look for an old autococker pump on BST. and by pump i mean basically bolt action

Or do you think I should use a older pistol. It would need to be able to have a replaced 18" barrel. And potentially the grip able to be removed like a cci phantom. What do you think I should use.

That rifle was built using a spyder body (I think an imagine?) and then the stock was modified so the entire spyder body would fit.

Also, some spyder bodies are pretty meaty, so material could be removed from them to allow for a better fit inside a stock.

The only problem going this way is dealing with the trigger. The trigger on the spyder frame may be a few inches in front of the trigger position on the stock. So you'd have to get creative on that aspect.

I noticed it has a powerfeed.. most likely an older (2k5ish) Spyder Sonix.

Any spyder would be suitable to use. If going the route I previously showed you (modifying a spyder to be bolt action and then placing it into a desired stock), a model with the left/right powerfeed may be more desirable since it will place the hopper off to the side.

A spyder is a spyder. choosing between them is not a huge deal.
As for using a pistol:
-Most (cheap) pistols are stacked tube like the spyders, the only difference is that the bolt and chamber (as opposed to being right over the valve) are further back.
-I would not recommend using a pistol as the body has a milled air channel in it

Thank you for voicing your unwanted and unnecessary opinion and providing no positive feedback to OP.

OP is wanting to make a bolt-action paintball rifle. The easiest way is to use a stacked tube marker (i.e. A spyder or a spyder clone). Any spyder would be suitable. Whichever model OP chooses to use will be equal in the amount of work necessary to convert it to bolt-action.

I found it much easier to use an autococker but you can use a spyder or piranha in a pinch. Read up on marker function. Try taking apart a few markers and see how they work before you start chopping. Seems like you are a bit inexperienced, so getting some knowledge will go a long way.
