sorry to prove your father wrong, the feedtubes are machines from solid billet. the porus part you are seeing is the material breaking under heavy stress, if it was a flaw you would see a clean break.

I think you got crappy luck with your feed necks cause mine are snug and I took it off last night to inspect for stretch or cracks of any kind using dye and a black light and could not find any
