A bunch of uppity socialist senators are concerned, what do you think?

Word on the street is that:
Quote:
The Federal Communications Commission is considering whether to waive its rule against cross-ownership in the nation's top-20 markets. Increasing the concentration of news outlets limits the public's access to unbiased information about important issues.
How do yall feel about media consolidation? Should the FCC be stopped and the regulations be kept in place?

Or should we let the media companies do what they want?

Media is already too consolidated but this definitely should not happen. I can only hope Bernie's cause prevails here.

Federal regulations seldomly work out for or benefit the people , especially regulating regulations. The ones who " regulate " are usually the ones who either set the regulations or lobby to regulate the regulations.**** regulations.let anyone or any many Express without any regulations. Or guidelines.

You claimed that regulations:
1) do not benefit the people
2) are reglated by biased individuals
3) generally are bad

I am asking you to show your work. Basically you are just saying "regulations are bad" without any supporting evidence, reasoning, etc. I would like to hear why regulations are so bad. What makes them bad? Are they universally bad or simply are our regulations bad? Can we create an alternative system in which regulations work? What evidence do you have to believe that regulations are bad?

This notion is made quite often around here without any supporting evidence. I'm asking for some.

I don't have any work, nor do you have any work that is contrary. The only people that have work is the ones that get payed to provide the work.I work for a living, so I guess ill never have the work due to time restraints. I will stand by what I said though, because I will use one example that might make sense to you since its about banks, as in your sig. When there are regulations set by the people to keep banks honest and ethic, why do they continuously laugh and piss on us? Need I remind u not to long ago, they used BAILOUT money that WE the people provided to repair their reputation and unethics, but to buy more forclosed Holmes! That money was supposed to go to the customers they knowingly unlawfully and unethically over-qualified to purchase a home on a mortgage loan only to see them lose the home so they can then resell a free newly forclised home.Americans got pissed at that one.what was the banks excuse in court? Oh yah , regulations were to tough so they lobbyed to be deregulated, bailed out, set new regulations and now they are at it again.hey, just saying, I haven't seen any post or topic started in the politics subforum with any " work provided".

You realize the banking bubble you are talking about was largely caused by deregulation.

Also you don't really understand what happened with the banks... like at all.

Not one part of this makes a damn bit of sense.

Given that the behavior of America is, in most cases, as I described in the Conn. Shooting thread, I don't believe further media consolidation would produce a noticeable effect.

Yes, I do realize, hence why I said their excuse was tough regulations and lobbyed for deregulation, and were successful with that.I'm not going to say 100% percent of the deregulations were a bad thing, I've noticed better competition between the banks equaling better products, but still, when they got deregulated and new regulations were set in their favor....
