Axe cold weather Reg issue

Ok so me and my friend bought empire axes in September. at the first tournament we went too it was really cold out probably around 30 degrees out. We both went to air up the markers and they bleed right out of the asa and dont air up. we tried other tanks nothing. i guess it was the cold and put them on my car heater 20 mins latter the markers worked fine

the o-rings probably dried out from the cold. I would do a complete teardown and fresh re-lube in the morning before you go play, should solve the problem.

Brand new means absolutely nothing. Did you try to oil the reg ? drop 1-2 drops of paintball oil in the reg and dry fire it for 10-20 shots ?

Never ever put an air canister of any kind over a heater, your just asking for a problem. Also, if the bottle was blowing air out where you screw the tank in, thats a seal issue and your orings need to be replaced and lubed.

Well then if you know, why the hell are you asking?

In all honesty, snakesniper is right. We dont agree on much but the man does know about the axe.

It might not even be your tank o-rings. Cold temperatures can cause rubber to shrink & contract, and can also cause lube to literally dry out to nothing (depending on how cold it is).

...but hey, since you "highly doubt" my advice, then fix your own damn gun.

Listen to the Snake. He's no dummy.

Cold = everything contracts a bit, so an o-ring somewhere was letting some air by, simple as that. Where the air was coming out is your clue.

if my axe is cold and doesn't have fresh lube it will take 5-10 shots to get going every time, and the consistency is off, if its warm or i just cleaned and re lubed it works first shot every time and tightens the consistency up

You're not listening to what he was saying in the first place. There is orings INSIDE the reg that you can't see that contracted. Proper understanding of your marker will go a long way in keeping this type of thing from happening

Exactly. Also you have to consider the material the Axe's frame and body is made from. The fact that there's cold aluminium in contact with pretty much every single o-ring on the gun means they'll all shrink at least a bit; which is why I recommended a full teardown and re-lube of all the gun's o-rings before playing. The lube will help to puff up the o-rings just a bit (not as much as Dow55 though), which kind of bridges the gaps that air may get through otherwise.

I do complete tear downs and lube everything the night before. the thing is you cant open up an axes reg without voiding the warranty on it. That is why im so confused by what your saying

I do understand my marker, i am my teams tech. i have fixed Ethas, Eteks, minis, axes, so many tippmanns ive lost count, geos, egos, and luxes. I know how markers work and what goes on in them. Just ran into a problem i have never seen before, ive had cold weather mess with guns orings but they never leaked as bad as these axes

like others are saying, its most likely that the o-rings contracted and just needed to expand a little.

There was probably nothing wrong with your gun other than the fact that it just got too cold. Try and keep it warm on the way to practice during winter.
