When I go somewhere, I do hours and hours of research, with the knowledge that there's a possibility less than half of what I read is bull****. A very good friend of mine was there right after that unit left, and has crazy PTSD from it.... and had very few positive remarks about them.

Bearing is bearing, whether at a wedding, funeral, football game, or in combat. Having a breakdown is not something you do in public, especially if you are in a leadership position. When one of our guys lost his legs from an IED, we had guys wait four hours to have their pity-parties (in private, once back from patrol). An inability to do that, and the fact that he kept crying for somewhere around 15 minutes.... That's just bad news.
|
I'll have to watch it again and keep that in mind but yea that sounds like terrible planning. It's kind of surprising that someone can be that inept and still be out into that leadership position.
Did you read the book about Pat Tillman, "Where Men Win Glory" I think? When Pat is killed by friendly fire, all the soldiers have to keep it together because his brother doesn't know he was killed yet. And sorry about your friend.

i cant believe they let him carry on like that. there is a time and a place for stuff like that. on a national broadcast with people all over the world watching is not one of them. if that is how he reacted after a damn football game i would hate to see him when something serious happens.

Just watched the GSU replay in the car on the way home.
Those announcers were clueless regarding our offense.

I guess I just assumed you were joking since we had 632 total yards.

Out of curiosity, what's the difference? What about a football game is so much more emotional than seeing a friend die?

Inept leaders are everywhere.... And the military has more than its fair share.
I haven't read the book... But a buddy read the after action (military report) on it, and the lack of planning/prep for that mission they were on when it happened.... I've seen people fired for being less ****ed up.
What most people don't realize is that in order for people to win bronze stars and medals of honor.... The situation needs to be ****ed up in order to need crazy heroic actions (most of the time). It starts with training, then mission prep, then patrol actions, etc...
Kind of like a football game. You can't be a hero and lead a crazy comeback unless your team ****ed up the first three quarters.

You need to watch the whole fight. That happened at 2:59 in the round though.

Everytime they clapped the board for 10 seconds left, these dudes went HAM throwing hay makers. PacMan got knocked down early in the fight, but that hit Marquez landed was ridiculous. What a ****ing fight, this **** made my ginny tingle.

i figured it had to be pretty late in the fight and round. there's no way you move like that unless you're not all there.
