Does the flex hardware hold the ears together in the exact same alignment as the stock plastic ****? Does it hold together securely?
Empire was allegedly supposed to send me new plastic pieces because mine fell out while I was playing but its been 2 weeks and still nothing.. I'm tired of not being able to use my eflex or having to cannibalize my events everytime my eflex falls apart more and more.

yes the plastic hardware can be reused and removed, i use the flex metal hardware because the eflex ones tend to come off sometimes

the flex hardware holds the strap and ears better then the eflex plastic ones, i has a little play but once the safety clips are installed, its firm, if you double strap your eflex, its stiff
sorry about losing your hardware, the flex hardware is secure and durable, imo you should just switch over, i found hardware in my local hardware store

there is definitely some play when the flex hardware is used on the eflex ears (like you said) i dont double strap my mask and wasnt 100% comfortable with the way it fit together so i put the new plastic pieces empire finally sent me in.. May give it another shot.. may also try double strapping it.

^^ The same way you single strap, just feed the strap through the slot on the side of the lens frame.

you dont have to cut the eflex ears at all, you just need to make a hole on the bottm part of the frame and ears to put hardware in
