They do, but not nearly to the extent of the east coast. For instance, I spent approx 15 years skiing back home (that I remember) and every year you skied through snow guns until about mid-January. I moved out here in '05 and have yet to ski through a snow gun, it's weird. They are still around, but they still rely on natural snow and haven't felt the need for snow guns until recently. The nice thing about out here is that it's dry enough for snow guns to actually make good snow, back east it's too humid and the "snow making" is very much so "ice making". But hey, skiing is skiing, so take it or leave it wherever you happen to be.

So i'm instructing at snoqualmie this year. Not my favorite mountain as it lacks in snow. Thinking about getting a better paying job though and just buying a pass to live up there when I'm not working. Got offered a job at Schweitzer in Idaho, but it's not full time and it would be too much money post graduation to find a place to live, ect.
Anyone else working at a ski resort?

Why, you wanna move? I worked in Steamboat for 2 years, back east for years prior, now back to helping coach ski racing when I can. Don't know what you're looking for, but I assume a resort town with low rent and high paying liftee jobs? If so, tried it for 3 years, couldn't find the right mix between skiing and being able to pay rent, I wasn't ready to sacrifice things like the true ski bums do. I'll send you a PM on work anyways.

I was thinking about being a ski bum today, I think I'm overqualified to be a lifty though.

I just got a job teaching full time at Snowmass, which hopefully should pay the rent. Keep in mind I've been teaching in the midwest for 10ish years and am fully certified, but keep plugging and you should be able to work it out!
I'll keep you guys updated throughout the season of course.

I've got old Freeski lange boots if anyone wants them. They should fit size 10 feet but I'll have to double check for sure. $10 + shipping. They would make a great boot for someone who doesn't ski aggressively at all, they're wicked soft. "coaching boot" lol
Pats peak is open and I don't even have my pass yet...

Most bigger mountains in VT have demos. I know stratton definitely does. I ripped the binding out of my park ski on the first day there and just demo'd skis for the rest of the weekend. It ended up being like 50 bucks or something.

Anyone familiar with the Tahoe area? Specifically Heavenly
Edit: I would give me left nut to be back in the PNW right now...they are getting absolutely pounded. And to think the weather guys claimed it was going to be a dry year for them
