Star Trek: Into Darkness (Trailer)

First movie was phenomenal. Easy way to "reboot" the series, but not break any of the old school cannon. Cheesy way to do it? Sure. Does it work... hell yes.

Now that the back story is out of the way... it's time to see it just go nuts.

Looks awesome. Growing up, loved Star Wars, hated Star Trek. But these new versions are great. I just hope that The Star Wars franchise can reinvent themselves like this in episode 7

the japaneese trailer was better, what with the possible spoiler at the end of it...

Agreed.
The first Abrahms Star Trek was amazing, and the teaser has me geeking out.
9 minutes of it is supposed to open up before The Hobbit at IMAX, which would be ****ing awesome.

Cumberbatch playing Khan is awesome. He plays an incredible Sherlock Holmes and I'm looking forward to seeing that focus and intensity playing out in Khan.

He's not Khan. They already said that they wont be doing Khan because the original was so epic, and fan favorited. So most likely they'll be slightly modifying some old stuff, but mostly I'm guessing Villains will be other ones out of the huge Verse that weren't in prior movies. Those tales have been told, and while we may see tie ins for fan amusement they're going to be telling new tales from the prior movies (doesn't necessarily apply to expanding on maybe epic episodes, and using the modified timeline and characters being different due to that to make it flow out a new way).

They reference one of their own, and Khan wasn't. Plus it looks like he has a modified Star Fleet uniform. It's not Khan.

Spoiler: (Highlight this box to see the hidden message.)
Rumor has it he's Lt Commander Gary Mitchell. He was the "villain" of the original pilot aired episode. He's a member of their crew who gets "Godlike" powers, and bends the good/bad barriers due to how power corrupts.

That goes with how Benedict says his villain is deep, and isn't necessarily directly good or bad.

i got that info from the DailyMail website, but i know the newspapers don't always get things right either, i just assumed they had it right from a presser from the studio maybe:

"Focusing on Benedict Cumberbatch's new character, Khan, the trailer shows what looks like a much darker sequel to the 2009 film, showing apocalyptic battle scenes and all-out action. The Sherlock actor, who audiences aren't used to seeing as a villain, embraces his evil side for the role, playing the ruthless character who has scores to settle with the film's hero Captain Kirk."

here's the article:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...-unveiled.html

and by the way i agree, the original Khan was epic.

Yeah that's wrong. They've already said it's not Khan, and Simon Pegg even said it's not Khan. They're trying to shy away from the well known movie villains, and Khan being the most well received of the past ones.

http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Simon...k-2-31145.html

The reason that all started was because the original actor hired to be the villain was Benecio Del Toro who everyone saw as the logical person to play Khan, but that was just speculation. When Benedict took over they still rolled with it, but all signs point to it being the other so far.

Although, which I hadn't linked to the japanese trailer prior because I didn't see it until after I posted this, they leave a spot in there which does have a link to WoK.

The Spock hand on glass is right out of Wraith of Khan when Spock sacrafices himself, and then dies and gets ejected from the Enterprise. Leading into STIII: The Search for Spock.

I think it's Gary Mitchell. If you remember the original, Gary was Kirk's friend and he got these Godlike powers. It was very early in the series and there was a blond girl who ended up with the powers as well that showed up new to the crew in the same episode.

In this movie, it's early in the series, there's a new blond girl that obviously is important to the movie, the villain is sitting in a command chair with some form of Starfleet uniform on, and it appears that Kirk does know him somewhat.

I loved Wrath of Khan, and I'm not so sure I want to see it redone. However, either way, I'm stoked to see this new movie!

I cant decide how I feel about these movies.

Its Star Trek and not at the same time. I feel like they should be slowed down a bit. I would however like to see mor Karl Urban as McCoy, I think he does a great job.

Saw it this weekend. Just as good, if not better, the the 2009 reboot.

I have a few buddies that liked the first one better, but I honestly thought this felt more like a Star Trek film than the first. I REALLY enjoyed it, and I hope they keep it up. Spock is a ****ing BADASS in this one too. Zachary Quinto still looks like a faggy pretty boy most of the time but at least he's not such a pansy like in the last movie.

And also:

Spoiler: (Highlight this box to see the hidden message.)
lol hard at all of the comments of "IT'S NOT KHAN!" and then it's totally ****ing Khan.

Also I liked the ending and how it was a nod to Wrath Of Khan, but it didn't have that same zinger to it because we saw what Khan's blood did earlier, and you KNOW they aren't just going to ****ing let Kirk die. It was so much less anti-climatic than the original. In WoK, we had no idea about Khan's conscious memories having the ability to be "downloaded" into anyone he wants beyond his often very brief Vulcan mind-bond. It was a total shock to see Spock die from radiation poisoning before our very eyes, thinking that was it, he was gone. Nowhere did I feel that watching this one, and this exact commentary was playing in my head long before that rat on McCoy's table starting breathing again.
