Shocker Build thread
need some help on what parts to get for performance upgrades.
will be picking up a practically stock Nasty NXT, except for a Virtue Redefined board, and i'd like some help getting it to shoot at the lowest pressures possible.
so here goes my list of parts that i want/think i need: (performance and aesthetics/ergonomics wise, an "X" by it means i have it)
Performance:
Lurker Bolt X
Modded SFT Can / NDZ ULP Can
Some sort of LP bolt guide
IPR mod
BL 360 or a Hyper 2
Ergo/Aesthetics:
CCM Frame
NXT VA (nasty comes with SFT, not that i don't like it but nxt va's fit my off hand better)
Anything i might be missing? Also which bolt guide allows for the LOWEST pressures possible, efficiency doesn't phase me. there is a reason why my field has all day air...
Also last time i was trying to fix it for said friend it just flat out would not fire, almost seemed like pneumatic lockout but i checked and rechecked every oring, they all were fine. Dwells fine, battery was new, HPR set to 190, nothing.... Any possible remedies or tips as to what might be wrong? i'm playing around with it this weekend i'll update then
P.S. i'm happy as hell to be back in the shocker community, have no idea why i sold mine to begin with....shot butter

NDZ LP bolt guide or a modded stock one. I've seen them only on Pooty's website, but I'm sure you can find them elsewhere. Except they run about $65. It might be better to have a stock guide drilled. And you can also install an ARB if you go with the mod.

How would I modify the stock guide? Never heard of an ARB.

NDZ LP bolt guide is pretty rare to find.

You can drill out part of the inside: http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.php?t=3896682
ARB is anti-rollback. That's the screw on the tip of the bolt guide in the same^ thread.

Found out what was wrong with his gun. Forgot to put the solenoid inserts deep enough....

Okay, so i took out my Nasty NXT, fully stock except the Eigen bolt in it along with the rhino spring it comes with. when i first put it in the gun, it felt very tight going in. almost as if the tolerances were off. it was so stiff that the spring wouldn't push the bolt forward unless helped. Am i the only one experiencing problems with this bolt? i had to lube it every other game (using Lurker Lube) and every time i pulled my bolt out this black gunk was ALL over the bolt, almost like carbon deposits were forming due to increased friction and heat. Dwell is at a comfortable 16-18 ms and reg was set at 170-190. thats just to get it to fire.... i have no doubt that this bolt will do exactly what lurker claims but later during the day i was experiencing major dropoff issues to the point were i had to bump the reg pressures so high my solenoid began to vent. did a full cleanup of the gun and HPR (Hyper 2) still no resolution, however as i removed to bolt today and cleaned it felt MUCH smoother than when i first got it. does it just need to be broken in or should i contact Lurker about an exchange?
TL;DR Lurker bolt won't work. pressures at 180-210 (solenoid vents at ~200) dwell 16-18 ms. black gunk all over bolt when i clean it, having to relube every other game only shooting about 2-3 pods a game, 2-400 cycles (including the hopper). bolt has major friction/striction issues when inserted into the sleeve/can/guide (tolerances too tight?). what do?

I haven't gotten one (yet), but I heard that the bolts come without lube, so you have to work some into the bolt surface for a while before it loosens up. I don't know about the black stuff, though.

Kemp - the black gunk is oxide from the hand-sanding lurker did to each bolt. It will work itself out, but you're going to get a bit of black buildup until it does.
Work some lube onto the surface of the bolt to help free up the movement. The orings lurker sent with the bolt work better for me than what the he/stock bolts call for. (011 vs. 012, if I'm not crazy).
I had to change out both of my can orings in order to get good movement, but that's something I've always done when changing out engines. The eigen requires that you take the time to hand-fit your o-rings.
Make sure your spring isn't binding on something. Even with a tight fit on your orings, the spring should have kicked itself forward once fully inserted. Check the inside of the eigen for any burs on the back lip (there shouldn't be one) and check the length of your bolt guide for anything the spring could catch on. Finally, compress the spring while it's on the bolt guide with your hand and see if acts funny.

wait, the orings lurker sent were meant to replace the can orings for better movement? damn, i wondered why he sent so many of em. i've already replaced the ones on the guide, will replace the ones on the can and update asap
also will check bolt guide and bolt for any obstructions. thanks for the info guys, thought i was going crazy for a second when my gun was puffing out balls 10 feet in front of me

You want to take all the orings you have not just the ones lurker sent and find the loosest fit you. For the bolt guide, inner can, inner sleeve and bolt sail. I also had mine at the field yesterday had about 7 1/4 pods and shot it all off a full 45 fill and still had 1100ish psi left after. But at the last pod I started to get some shoot down. Came off the field pulled the bolt real quick and had the same black stuff you did. Its like it builds up more on the inner bore of the bolt than the outer cause all my black stuff was on the bolt guide rings. I was also using lurker lube. Im pretty confident after a good cleaning it will go away.

mine oxide build up was on the outside, bolt guide orings are a nice loose fit, can orings are as well. it was my bolt sleeve inner oring that was causing way too much friction. changed it, felt mildly better.
edit: photos on the way your highness
