Well depends, if he has the new springs, they're no longer conical, so it won't matter. If the old ones, then yeah.

Doesn't sound like bolt stick though, that would be more of an inconsistent stream if paint.

I have the stock spring on it, one side is barely smaller than the other. I wouldn't say it "snaps on" , it sort of snaps on the way off. One side will fall off if held upside down, the other won't.

Do you have springs that came with the boss bolt?

No, I got the thing used. It came with the parts kit and with the extra o rings for the boss, but no extra springs. I'm probably just going to toss the stock bolt on there at this point.

Yeah, depending on what version boss bolt you have, you will need the spring for it. I would send a picture of the bolt to boss and see if they can get you a spring. For now I agree with you, throw the stock bolt back in just to rule out that the bolt is the issue. You can still have your back cap at 1.5 turns out, and adjust fps through your reg. but raise your dwell back up to stock(8ms I believe?) give that a go and let us know how it works for ya.

Yeah... The fact that you have the stock spring matters. Let us know man!

Thanks everybody, I'll see how it all works out when I can get to a chrono. I put a few drops of oil in the reg and took everything apart and lubed it. Shot a couple pods through it, still getting visible shoot down at higher rofs. Tomorrow I'll take another tank out, to rule that out. Still over boring, shooting .685 ish stuff with a .689. Thing's quiet and smooth, tomorrow I'll see if the stock bolt changes anything visibly.

He knows, the other guy said to throw the stock bolt back in to see If it helps. I have a feeling it won't, since shoot down sounds like a pressure issue, which unless the bolt was sticking horribly open can only be either the popping or reg, and he's already checked the poppit.

Yeah my bad. I was just editing a typo. Lol

But yeah if he had the stock spring and had it at 3 dwell like the recommended settings it'd cause a problem is all I was saying.

I lubed up the stock bolt and put that on the bolt guide, not sure if it will make a difference but it seems to be a much better fit and moves much more smoothly than the boss. I didn't think anything was off with the boss until I saw how smoothly the stock bolt fits I'm comparison.

May have been one of the older bolts with a tolerance issue, I'm sure if you contact boss and talk to him about it he may cut you a deal. I'd check everything else first just in case though. One thing about Boss is he does take very good care of his customers, props to that in this economy.

Dang it private.... You beat me to everything. Lol but yeah plus one for contacting boss. He's such a nice guy. I called the shop and not sure if I spoke to boss himself but he took the time to chat with me during the day about how the bolt works and tuning and such. He has a life long costumer with me.

SoFla, let us know if the solenoid does the trick today. Trying stock bolt with stock settings today, will only be able to tell if there's visible shoot down. Local shops don't have chronos, will have to wait till I can get back tothefield. With a 10 month old, who knows when that will be...

Collin

You could always buy one! Worst comes to worst you could send it to boss. He'll be able to help. You tried contacting him yet? And even empire is cool about it. I brought mine in with a boss bolt at cup and they still fixed it up for free. (Of course the problems started up after cup hahah)
Ill let you know how the solenoid works. Won't be able to tell till tmrw when I hit the field though.

Boss works on the regs? I'm assuming that if I still have a problem after these changes, that's where it is.

So I put a fresh battery in...... 295. 293. 295... Then I shot some ropes.... 295.290.293...couldn't see any visible shoot down... I had tryouts with it. Does anyone have a bit of fps shoot down when shooting in ramp?

I did have some random ones going to 288 but it was bad field paint and some were super tight on my 679 and some were rolling out of the 679 -_-

I've just been using semi, but I was having visible shoot down at a higher rof. Stock bolt, no visible shoot down at least. Sounds like yours is doing better than last week at least.. .

3 of the axes in my team was having shoot down this weekend while on ramp.
what i did was screwed in the back cap almost all the way and started chronoing and raising it at the same time until the fps stopped raising. then adjusted the remaining of the velocity through the reg. we are running dwell of 4 by the way. that stopped the shoot down. not shure if this is the correct way of doing it but it got us through the day.

From what I can tell you is that when you are seeing a +/- 20 its normally the bolt guide o-rings that need to be replaced. Also the Boss Bolt what Version is it?? I don't think that any of them are suppose to work with the stock spring. They were designed to with lighter springs.
