I'd like to get something sporty, something along the lines of the Sidi Race boots, or maybe something less like the Alpinestars Smx-1 or 2. What would I need just for street riding? I am going to wear them when I ride and then into school. I dont want to change, don't mide wearing boots to school tho, I'd be wearing jeans over them.
Decide how well protected you want to be when the worst happens, wear your gear accordingly. You don't "need" any of that stuff, but that isn't what matters.
Here for all of you stupid anti-self defense idiots in this thread, how about this for you? People are ****ing nuts behind the wheel, treat them as if they all want to kill you. Never trust anyone as far as you can throw them... this happened TODAY in the city I live in.
Nobody here said anything remotely anti-self defense. Self defense means somebody is attacking or is definitely about to. It doesn't mean that when somebody taps on your windown you get to point a gun at them, much less shoot them in the face. Especially from within the safety of your car. A motorcyclist pulling up next to you and tapping on your window is not a threat. If you don't want to deal with them yelling at you that's fine, just keep your window rolled up and ignore them.

I think the point was that it dosen't matter if YOU think it's reasonable for the person in the car to point a gun at you or shoot you in the face just for knocking on their window. The person in the car might not be reasonable. They just might be a lunatic. You just never know so it's best not to go knocking on people's windows.

I would have gone with a Sena SMH-10. I ordered one last year and love it. A few months later I got one for my girlfriend as well. We love them. We pair them up when we ride and she puts her girlie music on and just zones out on the back of the bike.
I considered the Sena. But I liked the boomless mic on the UCLEAR and since the reviews for it were great I went with it. Hopefully it works well.

Anyone know how the boots fit compared to a normal shoe? Size wise
Depends how you wear your shoes... most people wear a size or a half size too large. I'd measure your foot in cm to figure it out, and go by the company's size.
The smx5 boot sizing is spot on compared to your shoe. I wear a 14 shoe and the size 14 boot fit perfect. I love my smx5s. So comfy.
