good paint?
So what companies make good paint and what companies don't? And are there any practice reusable balls to shoot?

GI hands down best paint out there, all grades of it. Empire paint is alright, depending on what you get. Valken is okay as well. RPS is very good as well.

all paint depends on the grade you purchase. ie: GI. you shoot 2star, and it's crap, you shoot 4or5star, and it will be awesome.

Valken is the best paint I have ever shot. Im not being biased in anyway just stating facts. They take meticulous care packing and shipping paint and even have the courtesy to throw moisture wicking packs into each bag.

You do realize Empire and RPS are the exact same brand and produced in the exact same facilities right?
I personally really like RPS paint. Thought Valken was too bouncy- Draxxus was also too bouncy when it was around.
I was pretty impressed with GI's imperial paint in Chicago though. It shot straighter then the Ultra I got from that event- and seemed to be more brittle.. It also held its shape more consistently over a longer time frame but the fill IMO doesn't compare.. Shooting them side by side I would definitely notice when Ultra Evil came out because the fill was just so much more noticeable when it broke then the Imperial.
No experience with the mid/low end range of GI or Valken paints.. I generally like Empire Custom/RPS Premium for rec/practice. Marbs for big games, and Ultra Evil for tourney days.

I've shot 1 and 2 star, and it was some of the worst paint I've ever shot. 3 star was pretty good, amazing how much of an improvement. I don't know why they even HAVE 1 star, as bad as 2 star is, most times buying seconds is superior quality to 2 star. |

Cheap- Draxxus Midnight. Breaks easy but accuracy isn the best
Mid level- Formula or Premium. If the premium is cheap, I'd get that. But if not formula is the same thing.
They're both accurate, but you may get some bounces
High end- Pretty much whatever is cheaper amongst the high end paint. Dye CG, Evil, GI 5 Star etc
