I have a question concerning halfbacking. I've noticed that a lot of the ones I have seen leave a "tailfin" on the top. Is there a reason for this? I noticed it on the uber and this one. I'm asking because I'm thinking of doing just a sloped back, like the back window of this camaro:

Is there a technical reason this couldn't be done?

It's just personal preference. You can do pretty much anything your heart desires as long as the o-rings on your bolt are always covered by metal you'll be fine.

As you can see in that video that VS2 has "sloped" back that you are referring too. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to PM me.

Thanks. I was planning on stopping/starting at the existing edge of the slot, so shouldn't be any worries there.

Got a Hyper2 reg in today. Ordered an adapter for the reg and the stock VA. Will be drilling out the VA and valve body this weekend.

Drilled out the VA. Need to take a dremel and smooth out the rough spots. Going to postpone drilling the valve body depending on whether I actually need it.

haha nice. And ya idk about the o-rings. I think they just cause more drag. The one you added should be fine and will keep the air in the bolt, but don't go adding a 2nd one to the back. The one is plenty fine. dont know how low you can go, but you have to remember markers need a certain pressure to operate efficiently. Nice drill on the va. Don't know if you can drill out the balanced valve as well but that will help a lot as well. The main thing is to reduce friction. Polished the striker is one of the best things you can do. People don't realize how much friction exists between metal. Give that guy a good high grit sand and then polish with something like never dull. Great product. Don't know how you can do it (i think shotgun cleaning kits work), but polish the main tubes of the marker. This will further decrease friction between striker and body and air as well, because at high pressure a good deal of friction exists between the body and air. So do what you can to valve, polish up the whole body (inside and out if you want too) reassemble and tweak tweak tweak. I bet you can get to 180 and have a super efficient sweet shooting spyder on your hands

You air up your marker, strap on the mask, and walk onto the field.. it doesn't matter that you failed that test, that your girlfriend broke up with you, or that you got a ticket on the way there... your world is right for the next couple hours,... this is your heaven on earth.. live it.. love it.. play it.. Paintball.

Bigger hole = higher volume = lower pressure.

Nice job opening up that hole. I had a trinity VA that was already that size. People sometimes forget that hole really helps things run smooth.

Also I vote for a second o-ring. The bolt i bought at the time had the 2 around where air comes up from the valve. I felt help but can't remember if there were any real numbers. Never had an issue. Don't put the 3 tip oring on it though. VS2 bodys have a breach oring in the body, well most had em.

Ehhhh...I messed up...lol...

Completely forgot to take into the account that the valve spring had to sit on the metal inside of the VA. I know I know...

Trinity front block is on the way.

Haha well atleast it wasn't this one of a kind, no longer manufactured part.

You could have tried finding a larger based spring that would sit on the outer part of the front block instead of the inside of the front block.

Just ordered a feedneck, front block, and asa. Once those parts are here the marker is almost done. Just needs fine tuning and a anno job.

You'll be much happier with the trinity block. Its high flow and it lets the reg sit pretty tight. With the new ASA/REG and Front block, you'll see a major pressure drop once you dial that bad boy in. I highly advise you not to drill out the Balance valve, they are hard to find replacements for. The springs are almost perfect so unless you have a lighter one to try out they work best IMO.

So ... Lets see the almost finished body!

By any chance do you have a full spring kit? What I mean by full is both main and valve springs? They will com in handy for you project. I attempted this a couple years back and just ran out of time. You'll need to tweak the valve as well. The stem in the inside to allow for more air to go in. The previous settings I was using were light valve and light main spring. I was getting 190psi @ 270fps. I was also using a torpedo with a delrin piston if that helps any. The striker was polished as well. Don't lighten the striker or you'll run into some problems. I hope this helps.
