testing noid w/o upper board?

I have a parker noid I got a little while ago, but it does not have a upper board soldered to it. Is there a way I can check to see if it will actuate without having an upper board? Something like connecting a 9V to the pins? Since I don't have air I can't really check to see if it will hold air, but I figured checking to see if it operates is still worth it.

Could he not also put the solenoid onto a body, air it up without the trigger frame and use the tester switch(for lack of better name right now) on it?

That will tell him if its mechanicaly functional yes but not electronicaly which is the more likely of the 2 to fail.

There is a manual force button on it that will allow you to check the function of the pnuematic half of the solenoid.

If you want to fully test the electronic side, you will need to connect it to a board. Though you can check that the armature moves freely and test the resistance through the coil using a multimeter (should be somewhere around 50 ohms I believe)

If the resistance is correct and the armature free to move, you should be able to actuate the solenoid with a functional board.
