Saw the original.
I've never had a spotter "lift off" for me, I prefer not to trust complete strangers with my safety.
I want to be in this for the long haul. I don't want to be one of the guys who destroyed there shoulders simply because of ego. Constantly maxing has no practical purpose in regard to strength or size, IMO. Will be hard to get "huge" if you destroy your body early.
I done my share of stupid ****, not denying that.

If you seen me post you know I have short arms, so its either have someone spot me or not do over 225 because I can barely get the bar off the rack because its barely out of my arm length.
Ya, stupid to have someone I don't know spot me. But it would have been the same with 225 or even 250 which I can bench multiple times, because he picked it up to high and just let go around my neck instead of letting go around my chest.
Had someone do that to me before where they picked up the full weight and just let go, but they let go where they should have, so I told him to rack it and he picked it up and didn't mess my shoulder up.
Also I fixed my bench technique and haven't had my shoulders hurt from doing bench.

Your gym doesn't have multi-level j-hooks on the benches? If so, than I apologize for my previous statements.
But I still don't think it's smart to max on a regular basis.

They have where its barely too high or its right at face level.

Only been using the staff guys, or I get the trainer to spot me when he is working out.
