Currently I have a empire reloader. The 6 AA's it takes can get costly and heavy. So I wondering if anyone has tried converting it to use a lipoly battery (like RC cars use). My main reason for asking is
1. Lipos are a hell of a lot cheaper than AAs
3. Longer life span than re-chargable AAs
I know it's possible I'm just wondering if I should go with a 7.4v or a 11.1v lipo. Wiring it would be fairly easy, Just wire both items to dean connectors.
Depends on how the AA are wired and their output voltage. I am a little rusty but if you could measure the output of the pack with a meter I could tell you that way. Does anyone just know off the top of their head?
Average output voltage of a AA is 1.5-1.56ish. So 7.4v sounds inadequate. The 11.1v might be excessive, Odyseey recommended a 9.6v input. That's what the Duey Dog "The Bone" kit was set at. I'm not sure if the 18 volt mods for the Halos really gave the Halos 18 volts, or rather a sustained 9-9.6.
