G6R vs Spoolies
So right now I'm split between buying a G6R or one of the high end spoolies such as the Luxe or Clone. If I got the G6R I would have the money to, and would buy the LP poppet and the new premium pillow bolt, which further reduces operating pressures. If someone has or has shot a G6R with one or both of the upgrades how does the smoothness, and more importantly the sound signature compare to a Luxe or Clone?

I have a 2012 g6r and it's fully upgraded with the premium bolt and lp poppet and the zero ping ram and it's way quieter with them. I also own a GT and it is quieter then the g6r but not by much. I like the g6r over the gt though. Try them both out I hated the 1.5 luxe I had but that's my opinion

I agree with the above^
The clone gt will be the quietest and smoothest for sure. But the g6r with premium and lp poppet, will be a great happy medium with a little more efficiency.
Luxe's are nice, but i'm still going to put the g6r over it.

Objectively, is it worth the extra ~$200 for the 2012 G6R? I haven't heard great things about the gear drive ASA, can you put a cam drive ASA on the 2011 G6R and is the stock OLED board really that much better on the 2012 (vs. getting an aftermarket OLED on the 2011)?

Geardrive ASA is amazing, whether it's worth the extra $200 for a board it's up to you

I think it is. The tadao OLED board is great, and so is the Geardrive. I dont know what you have seen that was bad about the geardrive, but it is a great rival to the POPS asa from PE. The only possible downfall i can see to the geardrive would be that its on the bottom of the ASA and if you have issues with taking bad dives and scratching up the bottom of your ASA, then it might be an issue.

The ASA youre thinking of is the cam drive, the gear drive is the ASA with the knob on the front, similar to the OOPS and MacDev which is on the 2011 G6R.
All things considered I'd probably go with the 2012 with the prices I've seen recently.

Yes, i was in the middle of writing a paper and was unconsciously replying to this thread
You can find 2012's for around 700 right now, so you might as well

For me the g6r is almost as smooth and quiet as a clone, but feels totally different. I prefer a clone, but would shoot a g6r any day.
