If you want to get ranked, you need to play tournaments that use the APPA ranking system. Check in your regional forum and at your local fields for tournaments that use APPA.

http://www.paintball-players.org/ < Go to that website, make an appa profile for yourself, and start a team. Have your teammates make accounts, add them to the roster, and kazam, you can now play tournaments. Just gotta register and pay online on that website come tourney time.

Be sure too go to the APPA website and set up a team roster with your teammates on that site, then from there you can start playing tournaments and rank up in the divisions.

It largely depends on the events you play. If they are not PSP/appa affiliates you won't rank up, even if you're playing d3 at the local events. If they are affiliates, you'll be instructed to make the account, make a roster, and register for events. When you play the events, you'll automatically be bumped up. Otherwise, just bump up to the division you want to play and take on a new challenge.

It also depends on how well you do at the tourneys what your rank is. APPA drops your best placed event (in terms of APPA points earned) and your total points only consists of your 2nd, 3rd, and 4th best events. Correct me if I'm wrong please, but I believe that's how it is.

The first steps in moving into the D5 category would be starting to play against teams that are D3 or D4. This way you will have the upper hand on the other D5 teams who were most likely just playing against other D5 teams.

Never worry about rankings. Play people better than you period. If you're winining most of the games, you aren't learning anything.
