You don't put it on your tank. You put it on your marker..

I think he meant

my marker is not equipped with an on/off asa. My hpa tank is difficult to remove. Should i dry fire it to release pressure?

In that case you unscrew it...

To make things easier you can dryfire the marker to help relief pressure.

but you should look to at least drilling a small hole about half an inch from the butt end of the ASA.

Helps it vent the ASA so it becomes easier to unscrew faster, but won't make it leak from being to close to the airy area, if you know what I mean.

No offense intended, but I can't recommend drilling into any part of your marker. If you're concerned about unscrewing your tank, and dry firing it isn't helping you get it off, then bring it into your local pro shop. When you're there, talk to them about setting you up with an on/off ASA. I'm just giving you this information based on what I'm guessing is your current level of experience with your paintball gun. If you're having issues and you're not confident then don't go to town, that's how things break. If you have a good local shop, they'll take care of you. Happy customers equal better business.

Take care!

just unscrew it, use some force. Sometimes they can be hard to unscrew while pressurized but just he-man through it.

you can also put a drop of marker oil, or lube on the inside threads of the ASA to help with unscrewing. not too much. just make sure none gets on your fill nipple of your tank. what kind of gun do you have?
