I have the TRS from last season. It's awesome on big mountains. Super poppy, ollies take no effort. And you can go really really fast on it without feeling out of control, but it is still playful at slower speeds. It does take a little getting used to if you haven't ridden magnatraction or something with such an aggressive reverse camber shape.

Also, I wish Sierra was still a part of the Vail resorts. Not that I can complain when I get to ride Northstar, Heavenly, and Kirkwood.
I'd probably need an avalanche safety course or backcountry skills course before attempting an ascent. Looks like there are some in South and North Lake. Three day in a row type deals for a level 1 cert. Do you already know that stuff from your Shasta trips?

Do it with rei, cheaper and in a single day.
I know most but wanna refresh as it relates to boarding.

Thanks. I'll look into that.
Edit: Looks like it's more expensive than the one at Kirkwood and still lasts three days. There is a free Avalanche awareness class from REI, but that's not on-snow, and doesn't count towards AIARE certification.
Avery, you are welcome to join.

REI would be a horrible way to learn backcountry skills. learn from a accredited school. not some quick class. their is so much to learn and so many things you need to know before you just go into places where it can straight up kill you.
I was going to get my backcountry cert from an AASI clinic. i leave for aspen friday, so i might have to ask around

Wait a second here, you're giving me **** about sending Myles to an AIARE level one class when you're only taking a general back country class/cert given by AASI/PSIA. Are you ****ing kidding me?
And as far as the so many things you need to know comment, I already do. I'm AIARE level 2.
Could always use a refresher though as its been since its been five years.

Given how there is no national standard for avy classes or certs, I don't see why argue this. At least AASI/PSIA has been the standard for all instructor certs in America rather than one of many splinter groups like AIARE. Not saying that they are bad are anything, but I would much rather trust a AASI Clinic which has requirements just to take the class. I just wouldn't trust REI with educating me on anything when they can't even tell me why I should buy this board over the other.

Yup, opening night was tonight...only Freedom Park was open, but it was setup pretty nice. The only thing that sucked was all of the kids would just sit around in front of the rails...they got pretty salty when I would come from behind hollering and snaking them.
Day 1 in the bags, had a blast but ate it on a flat rail.
Hilarious moment of the night: Saw a girl snowflaking down through the park while texting on her iPhone. I don't know about you guys, but if I was Ski Patrol and saw someone doing that, I would put them in time-out for an hour...

I laughed at her as she snowflaked by...and she gave me a smug look, like she was totally fine. I just shook my head. What has this world come to? I have never brought my phone onto the slopes in 10+ years of riding, let alone text while riding!

Yeah I only take it for if I find someone injured, or if I lose the people I'm riding with so we can meet up at a chair. Being on the phone while at the mountain is

I also have music on mine, but woods riding necessitates a phone because you get split up a lot.
