Does anyone actually have one to tell us how they shoot? And how they compare with the other g series markers?

Is there any air efficiency specs on it? Doesn't look like a bad marker for the price.

I had a G3, it was terrible on air but the build quality was very good - a lot of nice features for an inexpensive gun.
This new version would appear to be the same - great features and price point. I'd be interested to see some efficiency numbers on it.

I'm surprised DP hasn't gone after any team sponserships with this round of G series guns (perhaps it's too early yet).
The macroless feature puts it in a potentially desirable category for a lot of people and a couple of sponsored teams could really help to boost sales.

I got 450 shots on my test tank a 48/3, that was running full auto. Dialed it into 290 shot +/- 8fps. Does have some kick but I really really like the trigger. That was the g5 not the g4 just to be clear. So that's some efficiency specs for you.

According to DP:
G3 OPR: 180
G3 Spec R: 150
G4: 200
G5: 200

doesn't look like efficiency will ever get better. However, I did own a G3 SE for 4 years and loved it. Given, I love poppits and the kick that those do give off. Imo the G series technically really is the worst of both worlds (in terms of spools and poppits). It has the kick of poppits (which most people don't like) and the efficiency of a crappy spool. I did expect better efficiency by the 4th generation. Time will tell I guess.

The lighter the gun the more kick you'll have. For instance, my Mini had considerably more "kick" than my Axe.

The ansgear video says 180psi...wonder what it really is.

In a speed ball gun, if you need stupendous efficiency, then this may not be the gun for you. If you are getting into PB or don't have a lot of money to spend, I would recommend a DP gun over most of the other options in the same price range or even over any low end PE or Proto gun that cost MUCH more. Can PE say their mid and low end guns are ALL aluminum? Ummm....NO!

At 260 - 270 I got around 800 shots on a 48/3.

As for the sound, I'd say it's not necessarily quieter than a G4. It seems to have a lower tone though. Not the high poppy sound. The kick is not bad at all. It's straight back into my shoulder with little to no barrel hike.

Also, have you played with sliding the bolt up and down the guide? It seems extremely smooth. Almost no friction at all.

my big thing: No macroline! The biggest problem I had with DP was macroline fittings blowing apart at the swivel.

PE doesn't do gas-through....Dye just did it on the DAM, but I doubt they'll do it on the DM series. If DP can do it for $325, PE can sure as heck TRY to make it work.

That was probably the biggest downfall of them. The fittings were a pain in the *** to use not to mention the blowing apart because the line wasn't inserted all the way. I always recommend that the fittings be switched out but it see they solved that problem lol.

oh, it wasn't just the macro-line coming out, this was actually destruction of the 90* fitting....as in, the 90* part of it would blow off of the threaded part. I'll post a pic tomorrow, we had one blow out not too long ago and it might still be in the shop.

I know what it was but I believe it's because the line wasn't in all the way to keep the collar in place. It could be just cheap fittings because I don't know for sure why they blew.

Yup, the collet would actually separate and become a projectile

all i care about is if they made it simple and easy. If this proves harder to tech than the macroline setup its all fail.

I see a lot of new kids in the sport who are afraid to buy markers due to the "lots of maintainence" needed to make the guns work. We all know that's pretty silly, but something like this gun that shoots well, and couldn't be easier to tech and fix really improves the chance that someone will stick around long enough to really drop some coin on the game.

My hat's off to DP, who quietly is changing the face of paintball.

Obviously somebody doesn't have experience with macroless guns.

  1. No Upping threads. If you have something to say, please do, but don't post in the thread just to take it to the top of the forum.
  2. Do not post "1st post", "1st", "First post" or anything similar (or with any other number) at any point in a thread, even if you post a comment too. It is really annoying and it will result in a ban.
