We wanted to pass along a project we've been working on called the Tactical HUD Project. This is an effort to showcase technology that is available TODAY for use by scenario, woodsball and milsim paintball players everywhere. This includes a Heads Up Display, wireless transmitting gun cam, helmet mounted comms, etc. We've working to review various tech and show you how to install it. We're also working with various companies to upgrade the tech as well.
If you're interested take a look at our FB Page: www.facebook.com/tacticalHUDproject
or our project site at: http://tacticalhudproject.net/projectblog/default.aspx
I'm very interested in your project and after reviewing your FB and projectblog site I feel you're onto something that's got real promise.
I'd love to discuss some ideas, as well as offer a couple suggestions,
but prefer this occur privately. If you'd like to see where this might
lead give my office a call.
Sincerely,

this is a fantastic project. I've thought allot about the same thing and it seems like there's no reason this wouldn't be advantageous during a milsim game, and probably powerful enough to give a team an unfair edge in speedball, if used properly. I'm excited to follow your progress!
This is an awesome concept and ever since video games like halo came out, I always thought it would be awesome to have a HUD in a paintball mask. Looking forward to tracking your progress on this amazing equipment. How can I get my hands on a complete piece? Do you sell them?
While not related to the proposed system which
is being duiscussed here I'd like to introduce you
to another system which is going to be sold by
ATT. This head mounted computer is controlled
by voice commands, not a key pad, plus it also
links to your smart phone via blue tooth, so you
can run all sorts of programs with it.
Here's a link to a demo of this system -
Enjoy!

To be honest, for a start, just being able to sync up with google maps and overlay the game map would be a tremendous seller. Having a hud map like the video games with gps tracking would be huge. Gps trackers are getting smaller and blue force tracking would be very awesome in the hud. A game timer would be great too.
Being able to track fellow team mates would be good. Possibly add the function of seeing what they see in the HUD, sort of like on ghost recon. The possibilities are almost endless. But would all of this tech be affordable for the average team players who take the game seriously such as my self and my squad?
Really lie where you're going with this. The night vision aspect
might not be as useful to some, but I'm sure thereare some folks
who'd fancy that ability.
As for the heart rate monitor, there's a firm named 'Foster
Miller,' based up in the Boston area who came up with what
amounted to an instrumented tee shirt for DOD. Not only
was it able to monitor the users heart rate, it also provided
body temp and even the user's stance (standing, kneeling,
etc.) The data was fed via a small cell phone battery sized
blue tooth transmitter to a monitor. The ultimate goal was
to come up with a cheap shirt that could withstand repeated
washings. imagine a platoon wearing these who could be
monitored by a medic. It'd save lives, as well as alert them
to cases where the user needed more hydration, etc.

Also the tech that dorsai is talking about with the heart rate monitors and stuff sounds like it would be pretty cool to use along with the HUD. Like I mentioned before, my group and I take the game seriously when we play and we could be out there for a couple days at a time, continuous play all through the 48 hours. We set up camps, establish perimeters, take shifts watching our camp, we do it all. This stuff would be awesome to outfit my squad with.
As for the heart rate monitor... users heart rate, it also provided
body temp and even the user's stance (standing, kneeling,
etc.)
I thought that within the video he was talking about a heart rate monitor for enemies - a system which detects the heartbeat of anyone on the field and displays it on the HUD.
Although what you mentioned does sound pretty cool for a long day of playing..
That looks awesome! Do you have a site or FB page? I'd like to publicize it! Anyway we can negotiate a purchase of a prototype? I'm definitely interested in the OLED, you're the first I've seen with it in paintball. Nice work!
'Golden I' introduced their latest version of the HUD
last week out in Vegas at the electronic show. For
more details and a video of what Verizon plans to
do with it check here > http://ces.mygoldeni.com/
Of course this model is taylored for use by Fire Departments,
but it's also capable of much more.

Just saw the commercial for that golden I device. Great for fire fighters and I can see many law enforcement applications as well and possibly military on a larger scale. Would love to see this in the woodsball and scenario paintball play but my question is how much would it cost to outfit a team with these. The ski mask HUDs seem more practical for now and from what I understand apps for paintball are in progress for it. Check out recon instruments.com. Looks promising
