Splatmaster modification
This thread is to basically find out if anyone has done anything to their splatmasters. The first thing that came to mind for me was to switch out the spring to attempt and get a higher velocity.

At the field I work at we are all buying them to mess around with. Itd be nice to bump up the FPS or something lol...
But the problem I see with a new spring is that it might break the ball in the gun.

I thought about the ball breaking, would have to play with a couple of different springs..shouldn't be a big problem though

I did look this up and I read that the bolt never touches the ball.. its just air... if this is true then the spring can be stronger.
I also saw in the same post that he was going to try and use a little oil on the oring to make sure that no air escapes.
Whats ur thoughts?

Both points sound really good, I'll have to open mine up and take a look at what's inside

I just went out and bought one.
Soo.
Ive noticed that the ball is very loose in the barrel. It makes me wonder how loose it is. I am thinking if it is just a little small i may and try to get the paint a little warm.. Things expand in heat...
If not I wonder if i could get a better sized barrel.

I know they used to have a different barrel you could put on them. I still have mine from circa 88', it was my first marker.

Someone was making brass barrels for them maybe 1-2 years ago.
Little known fact: at PbNation events, we bring a box of Splatmasters to play against ourselves, though it's often just moderators.

Yep. The key is that the box-o-Splattys is all stock guns. Some are good, some are questionable. Luck of the draw, but we do rotate who has which guns. It's the most fun I have playing paintball all year.

I was talking about the new plastic splatmasters you can get at Walmart lol. I suppose I should've specified. It's not a huge loss if I end up breaking it, which is why I wanted to experiment.

If its just a simple spring change, I'm all for it. I'm just afraid ill spend the mobey on one and go to take it apart and it it blows apart right there like a nerf gun.

I seen a picture of one that some one painted red tiger that looked pretty sick but other than that I took apart my shotgun and pistol and attempted putting rubberbands behind the spring to make it compress more but didn't seem to affect it. Mind you I don't ever mod **** that was just me ****ing around.
