Best bolt?
What's the best bolt for the etek3? I'm looking at either the Kush bolt from TechT or the Cure4, or even the cure3+, which seems to be more than the cure4 for changing the sound signature and smoothing airflow.

No big need for the Cure 4 unless you are shooting ultra fragile tourny paint. The Cure 3+ would be my recommendation. I like the idea of the TechT bolts, but I would rather stick with the company that makes the bolt and the gun it goes in.

If you got Kilas be careful with your detent/eye cover/eye alignment. If not you could possibly shred your bolt, detents, and possibly harm other parts of the assembly. Mine were misaligned and tore up one detent and warped the eye cover.

I decided to try the pooty, also, actually! I'm pretty pumped to get it.
What do magnetic detents do for you? never heard of them?

Kila detents are magnetic detents that utilize a detent mounted on a magnet. Inside the eye cover is another magnet and the two repel each other. It is supposed to be less destructive on the detent, prolonging their life. They also produce bolts and gun accessories.

sweet, thanks. Sound dangerous, though, so I guess I'll pass. I don't want to risk ripping up my marker's internals like that.

It didn't tear anything up really rather than one detent. I bent the cover back gently and it has been fine since. Just be careful to make sure everything is aligned properly and tucked in. You can even click the Etek in my sig and see the exact eye cover involved.

Those detents won't hurt anything. They act just like your rubber finger detents but use reverse polarity between the magnets. All they do is push on each other to allow the ball to remain in the breach where it should be before bolt contact. Your rubber detents can rip and lead to ball breakage in the chamber. Then you get to replace them after wear and they can be hard on brittle paint. The magnetic detents allow you to shoot brittle paint with much less chance for breakage. It won't hurt your gun or internals at all and paired with the cure4 pooty modded bolt should work flawless with the soft tip on the bolt.

Alright, gotcha. I'll definitely keep them in mind. I guess I misunderstood the initial comment saying they could tear up the bolt. I mostly shoot field paint, which is ****ty,but not really that brittle (I don't think?). not really any tourney paint or anything.

Some of your field paint gets slightly deformed, the cure 4 should do you well for that. I'm not sure the detents will help much with that, I grabbed them just because it is better all around the rubber detents.

I have a kush bolt in my hands right now, and it's not all that soft on paint. It may have a rubber tip, but it's not soft rubber. In fact, it's the exact same as the Axe/Mini rubber bolt tip.
Get the Cure 4 if you need to get a bolt.

Got the magnetic detents in tonight, they are very fidgety to get them aligned and shooting without sticking. Just proper eye cover alignment. However I noticed that with my dwell set at 11 the gun is more quite than it was with the rubber detents. Call me crazy but I'm almost positive it is.... be interesting when I throw the cure4 in when I get it!

huh, it seems pretty strange that new detents would quiet a marker...unless it was causing some sort of pop when the paintball rolled over them?

That's what I was wondering.... maybe those rubber fingers snapping back making it louder?
