A friend of mine whos fairly new to paintball asked me "with a two piece barrel, whats the bore of the tip" and my response was .

Now I've only been playing 4-5 months more than him but he's always coming to me with questions and this is the only one thats stumped me. I had never thought about what the bore of the tip might be, everyone is always concerned about the bore of barrel back.

If anyone can shine some light on this i'd appreciate it.

Depends on the barrel. Some really open up and others stay kinda close to the bore.

I do believe you are right on this, it really does depend on the barrel in question.

Then what would be the point of using a .693 barrel back if the the tip is say .689 or vise versa, a .682 barrel back and the tip might like you said really open up? Wouldnt going from a wide back to a smaller tip increase the chance of a barrel break and from a small back to a wider tip might cause the ball to bounce around in the tip and either break or put a weird spin on it?

and if im wrong on my barrel logic please educate me lol

You'll never go from a bigger back to a smaller front. Balls are stabilized in the barrel and will never bounce or spin unless you recently broke a ball and there is paint for it to hit.

I remember reading years ago that UL tips are .7" so I would think most barrels would follow that. Makes sense considering .693 is about as big as backs get.

Tips on 2 pc systems are pretty large. Putting a .697 SS insert in a freak and looking into it from the tip end still shows a nice ridge so I'd guess .700/.720 or something I guess??

Varies from barrel to barrel. Usually quite large, over .700

Somebody here measured two 2-piece barrels. Furious lotus was 0.700 at the tip and the Disruptive was 0.696 if i remember correctly.

The tip of a 2 piece will have a larger bore then the biggest back offered (693 in most cases). If anybody knows the tip size of other 2 piece barrels, do tell.

I am. People never take that into account. I am curious if the furious barrel gets such good efficiency given the bore size because the tip is a tighter bore. a .688 with a .695 front will get a higher velocity than a .688 with a .700 front.
