can changing the dwell mess with the consistency? I've been shooting +/- 10 to 15 over the chrono for some time now and want to get it more consistent. i was thinking about bumping the dwell down to 4

Going down will make it worse.

Use a good paint bore match, use goods paint and sweet spot your regs.

Lower dwells are generally more inconsistent and higher dwells smoother while lower dwells are more efficient and higher less efficient. its usually best to leave the dwell at the stock 6.0 unless you know what you are doing.

If you are having the same problem i was, you need to sweet spot your reg, just like gamer has said multiple times. mine was doing the exact same thing and i fixed the inconsistent velocity by getting the hpr perfect, and by perfect, i mean exactly perfect. when i did it, 1/32 of a turn seemed to matter so get some time over a chrono with plenty of paint and set it up right, it really makes a huge difference.

To Sweet Spot the marker:
1. turn the lpr until it fully cycles
2. raise/lower the hpr until you have the highest possible velocity with that lpr setting (also known as the sweet spot, find by shooting at least 5 shots over chrono per turn of hpr until it is right and the velocity stops rising, there is a point where increasing/decreasing velocity both decrease velocity and that is the sweet spot)
3. change lpr to desired velocity
4. raise/lower hpr to find the new sweetspot, should be close already
5. repeat steps 4 and 5 until you have the desired velocity range and fairly consistent shots

after it is sweet spotted, use a pressure tester to find out which pressures you just set the lpr and hpr to and write them down. all g6rs come with a card that has the recommended pressures, usually for around 290 fps, but if you do not know where your card is, do this.

The other way of fixing inconsistencies is to lube the lpr, hpr, poppit, ram, and/or bolt. i mention these last because i assume this is not your problem. good luck! (if you didn't read the manual, lpr, hpr, poppit, and ram are supposed to use dow 55 and the bolt uses gun oil)

yeah i still have the card i think it may be boring issues but who knows. I have only luped the lpr once since i got the gun but idk if that is the real issue. I will try sweet spotting it and hopefully there is a change in the consistency. thanks for the reply!

I guess you could try it, but the consensus is to just leave the dwell at 6

Bad pressures, poor paint/bore match, wrong dwell, small tank.

All in all 90% user error.

Dwell is incorrect, which means you pressure are probably not good.

What are you pressures?

Stock dwell lpr 80 hpr 280 lp poppit. This is lurker sweetspotting. Shoots fine but both pressures seem high to me?

That doesn't say a whole lot considering there has been many different pressures listed.

Plus all marker are different and require different needs. What works for one may not work for another.

All markers are different and require different needs. Plus your gauges could be off giving a false reading.

Your hpr should never need to be above 230 psi though.

You most likely went passed the sweetspot. When I got my lasr g6r that had lp poppit in it, the tester was reading 220 and I felt that was way too high. Reset the pressures and I got hpr down to about 150-160 with an lpr of 64-68 and was chronoing 285
